    Hi There

Trying to use my recently purchased import tool having given up on DNNMasters monstrosity.

A couple of problems occurred when I used the data springs tool.

1.) I set the expiry date for the user roles to 31/12/2008. When I added the import event it defaulted back to 1/1/1753.

2.) The email I want to send was truncated to about half the original size.

3.) The add role events didn't trigger anyway. Don't know if it was to do with the date problem or mismatched rule

The import is coming from an excel file. Everything else seemed ok.

Any help please. Getting increasingly frustrated with DNN admin tools!

Hi. I think I responded to your support ticket but I wanted to follow up here as well. Once we get any/all issues resolved we will post here as well.

    1. I believe this should work so I am wondering if its just defaulting back to 1/1/1753 or if its actually importing them with the wrong date? Anything tested was tested against 12/31/2008 so Ill have to make sure we test against 31/12/2008. The 1753 date should only be set when you leave it blank (empty). As a work around you can also execute a SQL Event to set the users role date I suppose.

    2. I checked and the column that stores this is only 1700 characters long. We will update the next build to use a text column that allows for unlimited characters. In the mean time you can modify the column size directly on the table if you need a work around.

    3. Probably a date problem, please test leaving the date empty and let me know. I will test the date issue on our end.

    Colm,

Hi. I wanted to let you know I just updated your support ticket with an update. Please uninstall/reinstall and let me know if this fixes your issue.

I think all of these issues are all surrounding a column size for the Events. Since this column size reflects all events (including role events) I believe the truncation with the email was also causing an issue with your role events etc... Anyway, please let me know if this fixes you up so we can get this patch posted for other users.

Chad, is there a method whereby I can update the expiry dates for a particular role per user?

    Example:

    User A
    Role 1 Expiry date 12/31/2007

    User B
    Role 1 Expiry date 6/5/2008

    User C
    Role 3 Expiry date 7/12/2009

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Chad,

I am also having a problem with the expiry dates when adding DNN Roles.  When I add the event, the date is not being populated even when there is a date selected in the calendar.

DNN Role      Registered Users EXPIRES NEVER

    Thanks,

    JC

Hi guys... There is currently a 1.5 release which is ready and pending documentation. The release includes a fix for a few issues and also some new enhancements including the ability to import a static file, make imports recurring, set a global filter for import records, only import a certain number of records per scheduled instance, etc... The release should be ready within a week. I also think a DNN Core Function call changed which wasn't processing interactive events based on a response from an extended profile property (for condition based responses). This has been corrected as well and was tested recently against 4.8.1 installation. Also a new feature has been added to optionally enable/disable logging and the logging details has been improved significantly so know exactly what is going on.

    Chad,

I installed today the 1.5 version you send via Snowcovered. Here is my list of bugs:

    1) Step 2-5: I have a quite a big Excel file with columns from A to EH. The columns and their respective settings in Step 2 beyond column EA are not saved in the definition file. They are however read in, but I have to check the columns and select the corresponding core field each time I go through this step

    2) Step 3-5: Emails defined in this step are not send at all. I've tried static email-addresses, subjects and bodies and emails with tokens => no luck! In the scheduler I'm getting this error message for the read in row:

    Preparing to Process Email Events
    Error Processing Event
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at DataSprings.DNN.Modules.UserImport.UserImportProcess.ProcessEmail(UserImportInfo UserImport, UserInfo User, String strEvent) at DataSprings.DNN.Modules.UserImport.UserImportProcess.DoUserImport()

For some reason, I'm can't see any error messages in the event viewer? If I choose the option "Notify Users via e-mail (e-mail field must exists)?" in Step 4-5, emails are sent But I don't want to use this feature - I need to personalize the message.

My deadline for a project is on Tuesday. I was hoping to send a personalized email for all users using your module, but this seems now impossible. Chad, do you have time to look into this on Monday?

    Jukka,

Hi. Well the 1.5 beta is actually still a beta and not a full release... We will review these though as we are getting documentation ready and testing this module further before release. Not sure though as tomorrow is Tuesday that these will be corrected. I am going to review and test the email events this afternoon though so if I can easily duplicate it there should be a fix quickly. On issue #1 does the import work correctly but you just don't keep that setting within the interface for steps 2-5? With fields this large I am curious to know the module definition number for each core/extended field. If you go into Admin, User Accounts Manage Profile Properties and hover over the edit icon for each profile property what does it show? It should show something like definition ID/354/ if the definition ID is 345. We found originally that there was an issue during testing as this was only a two digit number, I believe we changed this to support 4 and 5 digit numbers but I am just curious if maybe its gone beyond that?

On issue #2, is the user being created or updated? The user must not be skipped (they must be created or updated) before the event can take place. Ill do some testing on this like I said though and see what I can easily duplicate.

Good news... I can easily duplicate this. We will have this fixed before the actual release which is scheduled for the end of the week. I will follow up with you soon though for a fix before then.

On issue#1: Yes, the import works correctly, but the settings for the last columns do not get saved at this step when you hit next. The largest definitionid was 111 in my configuration that I found. I have about 74 fields altogether.

On issue#2: The users are being created.

An update to issue#1: Actually the import doesn't work correctly for last columns that I've defined. My mistake ... I was looking at wrong fields.

Using the last 1.5 Beta update you sent me yesterday, I got the Emails working. The saving of some fields and import of them is not working yet, but I suppose you didn't have time to look at them. I can live without that "feature" for now.

    One more thing:

I created another Excel file with columns from A to CA. The last fields are still not saved and imported, so it's not the Excel file size that is problematic, so it has to do something with the field definitions ... I can't live with this "feature".

Okay, now I found that actually field definitions that have ID 99 or greater are not read in at all... and I have several of them !!! Now I'm in real trouble!!!!!!!

From the support ticket you determined that it does import some greater than 99 but not others so if you can figure out any differences between which fields are being imported and which ones are not that would be helpful so that we can test against those requirements. Its not that these are 'features' but it might be something we can test against to help determine what is causing the problem.
