Correct SQL not working on tailored HTML

I entered the following SQL statement into SQL under host on my dotnetnuke portal and it worked correctly by displaying all users on the portal with their security roles.  But when I created a SQL Culkin on the tailored HTML module it and then I put that token on the screen for unauthorized.  Well it only showed the #1, which I believe it is the first column on the first row.

    Select  * from easycgi_dnn_userroles

I am surprised that it didn't show at least all of the columns in row one.
I could create an SQL statement like this:

    Select  * from easycgi_dnn_userroles where ArticleID=$(ArticleID)

In the SQL above $(ArticleID) a token created for the variable passed in through the querystring called ArticleID.

3 things relating to this is that

    1) I would think this SQL statement would return rows containing the cell titled ArticleID and that each column in each row would be shown for each row.

    2) seeing what happens with the SQL for showing all the User Roles not sure and all the rows or all the data in a row is there some kind of looping needed.  If SQL testing screen on the dotnetnuke portal doesn't need looping then why would tailored HTML?

    3) for showing each cell in a row could I create an SQL token for  each cell in a row?  Should I do something like this

    >>

Select  firstname from easycgi_dnn_userroles where ArticleID=$(ArticleID)

HI, you need to use the token variables DSParam1,DSParam2, DSParam3 for SQL binding to work in your SQL statements. So in your situation, change the token from "ArticleID" to "DSParam1" and your SQL statement would be:

    Select * from easycgi_dnn_userroles where ArticleID='$(DSParam1)'

see if this works for you. It works fine for me. -- David

I found a work around late yesterday.

I want to convert checkbox value (Yes) to verbatim text I store in a table (co3_CalciumAnswersFile). That table has 3 columns: ShortName, Yes & Verbatim. I always think in Excel and what I want to do is, 'if cal01 is checked then write text from verbatim else display nothing'. Therefore, if I pass the checkbox value as a Session Variable from the Dynamic Form, then in Tailored HTML I just need (2) tokens to convert the value. One is a Session Token and the other a SQL Token.

    Here is what I did:

I passed the checkbox 'cal01' as a Session variable from a Dynamic Form and in Tailored HTML settings I made a Session Token called 'cal01' with the TokenKey 'cal01'. Then I made a SQL Token called 'calcium01' and the TokenKey of:

SELECT Verbatim FROM co3_CalciumAnswersFile WHERE ShortName='cal01' and Yes = $(cal01)

In Tailored HTML contents I added $(calcium01) for the SQL Token and got the verbatim text I was looking for.

I am sure this could also be done with a Stored Procedure which is what I am working on now. It just took me a WEEK to figure out this step! If anyone knows the RIGHT way to do this (or a better way) PLEASE let me know!! I have about a thousand fields in this application I need to do this with!

By the way, before I added the Session Token having just the SQL Token actually crashed the Web Server somehow!

Strange that the SQL token would crash your web server. If you checked the Admin / Event Viewer log, does it give any detailed message as to why it would crash? -- David
