    Hi,

    How would I go about getting the text value of a ComboBox selection to use in a Client Side Event? The documentation mentions using the $(ShortFieldName_Text) token but I have not successfully gotten this to work. I would like to be able to pass the text description of a ComboBox selection to PayPal. Any ideas?

    Scott,

    Hi. This feature was not part of the initial 2.6 release, it was included as an option but only for Dynamic Email Events and Dynamic SQL Events. We have now added this as a feature for PayPal tokens (additional PayPal parameters) and it should be ready for the next minor or major release. We have the 2.7 release scheduled for the end of the month but its possible we release a patch of minor issues and enhancements before then for the 2.6 release.

    The only way to do this now would be to use a hidden field that represents the text of the combo box / radio button and then use a client side event to set its value. There are a few resources on Beta Springs for getting access to the radio button / combo box selected item that you could reference or if you would like we can code this for you with Premium Support hours from our staff.

    Thanks Chad. One more quick question: Does it have to be a Hidden field? I just put a regular TextBox (shortname is called YourTotal) on my form and used a Client Side Event to populate it. Because of the PostBack issue I also put the same code in the Initial JavaScript area in Module Configuration. The TextBox does not seem to populate after the ComboBox selection. Here is a portion of the Client Side Event:

    if ($(Venues) == 'SEP07')
    {
    Total.innerHTML = 'Your total comes to:  $' + 40.00 + '';
    $(YourTotal) = '40';
    }

    Any ideas why this won't work? The Text/HTML field called Total does populate but the regular TextBox does not.

    Hi. Well there have been some additional client side JavaScript functions added to get to the text property of different field types, you might checkout demo 20 which demos getting the text property instead of value within radio button field types.

    Does Demo 20 have the XML available yet?

    Edited to add: sorry if I'm being dense, but I don't see which example is pulling out the _text value.

    Hi Laura,

    Demo 20 is still a work in progress but if you fill out the form and hit submit, you should get an email that shows results. Generally, the _text is used for any of the fields that offer options. Hope this helps. Thanks!
