    Hi;

    I am just evaluating the Dynamic User Directory in conjunction with Dynamic Registration. Our setup is that we have different type of members (three) that are listed in the user directory. When someone want to view the details, there should be different views depending which member type.

    We offer Basic, Premium and Gold memberships in our directory. When a visitor browses the directory all members are displayed in the search results. Now when he clicks on a gold member we want to show more information than for a Basic member (ideally by hiding/showing div element).

    Can this be done with Dynamic User Directory and how can I do this?

    Thanks

    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

    At this time, you can only have 1 view details page unless you set up separate instances of Dynamic User Directory per membership level.  However, on your Dynamic Registration, you can have fields linked to profile properties that are displayed based on the specific membership selected. So for example, your Basic will only fill out 8 fields, Premium 12 and the Gold will have 15 fields.

    Back in the User Directory, in the User Detail template, you can use all the tokens and your Gold member will show all info while the Basic will have limited info because the other properties are blank.

    This is just a quick way to handle it but there are other little details you can do (like SQL events) to give your Gold members enhanced visual presentation.  Hope that works for you.  Thanks!

    Hi Candace,
    Thanks for the quick reply. I intend to use group information in div elements for the details page. I believe I can set this up in the template.

    Lets say I have another field that I specify on the Dynamic Registration that I call cssClass. Depending on the member type I can set this to hiddenClass or visibleClass. Can I then use this kind of code in the template:

    ......

    This would mean when viewing basic member I can hide this and vor premium members I can show this element?

    Also regarding SQL Events how can I use them in the User Directory?

    Thanks
    Thomas

    Yes... It sounds like you are going down the right path, you could then have something like class=[ProfileClass] and it would set it to be whatever class it was. Once they clicked the link showing the detailed info could be more work, could possibly be a good fit for our Tailored Text/HTML module as well once you start getting into some more advanced detail type views where you can use SQL tokens etc...
