    Hi There,

If I put in a simple one line description for the Information Pictures Set there is too much white space between the module above and the one line of description and also between the description and the horizontal line and thumbnails. If this padding controllable?

I'm using Tooltips for Image Descriptions so no requirement for a larger Description field.

    Best regards,

    Alan

    Alan,

Hi. Can you attach a screenshot of this so that we get a better idea for what you are needing/describing? Or setup a test implementation on Beta Springs that showcases what you are describing?

    Hi Chad,
Many thanks for the speedy reply. It’s so pleasant to have developers respond to forum posts  !
    Background:
    Our customer brief is to
    1.       Replicate their existing static site here ("Removed") inside DNN as closely as possible, illustrating the benefits of a CMS system in enabling user updating of the site.
    2.       Update the site to include customers new projects.
We are currently in phase 1 using a portal in our demo DNN installation here "Removed" . I am still loading pages into DNN and I have not serious started looking at CSS style sheets etc. yet though some work completed on skin etc.
On the home page of both sites (static and DNN) you’ll see a Gallery with views of one of the customer projects. On the static site the thumbnails are tight with little white space above, below or between the thumbnails.

Here’s the equivalent shot of the DNN site, the red rectangles indicate where I feel there’s excessive white space or rather where there’s white space that should be under control, in some circumstances the white space would be acceptable so it would be best for the white space padding to be under control.: -

    Screenshot supplied...

Personally I feel limiting the number of thumbnails to 1 - 5 thumbnails per row is too restricting. If you have a full width skin then it would be easy to get twice as many thumbnails across the screen width, depending on the thumbnail size selected.

I quite like the horizontal line between the description and thumbnails but ideally this would be under control too as to whether it displays, weight, colour etc.

Info Pics also only appears to display complete rows? If I have six thumbnails in the set used above but only the first complete row displays? Is this intentional or a bug?
    Best regards,
    Alan

    Hi Candace/Chad,

thanks for the login details for Beta Springs.

    http://www.betasprings.com/Info-Pic...fault.aspx

I have replicated both issues on Beta Springs for you. You can clearly see the white space issue and why it should be under control.

The Info Pics set should contain the three images displayed in the RightHandPane, however you cannot select the Church image for inclusion in the Info Pics set because it resides in a sub-folder below root called /gallery, the Wey Navigation Canel image resides in a second level sub-folder called /gallery/1082 and also can't be selected.

Basically Info Pics doesn't appear to support images anywhere other than root whilst the Media module can correctly access sub-folders ok.

    Best regards,

    Alan

    Alan,

Hi. Yes when we initially designed and rolled out the module it was designed for the images to be from the root, clearly this needs to be added as a feature though as not all images would be in the root of your folder. We have added this to the next minor or major release of Info Pics.

I think the white space is somewhat more of a configuration option but it would be nice if you could adjust this setting.

    Hi Chad,

    Thanks for the reply.

My client on this project is not being too pushy about the white space (at least at present!) however I have other clients who I know would insist on changing the Gallery because of this white space issue.

I'd definitely add this to the wish list for a future release if I were you. If you're using a table for the thumbnails then it should be relatively easy to add control for padding and margins to the table shouldn't it?

Do you want me to add other improvement ideas here on the Info Pics Forum or in the Product Enhancements Forum? I've a list running . I realise from the number of posts on this forum that this isn't a heavy seller for Data Springs and therefore not a priority module for enhancement, but it's always worthwhile having feedback.

    Best regards,

    Alan

    Hi Chad,

Hope all is well with you guys at Data Springs?

We are going to be starting a new project that requires a gallery for a client next month. We've been asked to convert their static website into DNN on a "like for like" basis. Their existing site has a gallery feature and it's much 'tighter' than we can manage with Info Pics (too much white space). The client is a tiling company and their gallery is designed to look like ceramic tiles (i.e. just a very thin white grouting between the tile/pictures).

Is their any propsect of a new release of Info Pics to address this issue or should I instead investigate alternative Gallerys?

    Best regards,

    Alan

    Hi Alan,

The white space is for sure an issue we are addressing in the next release of Info Pics Gallery. We are also fixing the issue with not being able to load images unless those images are in the root directory. These are both scheduled for the next release however we have a few new releases coming out before it (specifically IUI 2.0 this week, Dynamic Registration 4.0 and Back on Track 2.1). This release is scheduled after these.

    Thanks,

    Chad

This post is 2 years old, but wondering was this ever updated? I'm wondering if I have an old version of infopics on my site as this gap is still huge. (also wishing I could get rid of the line over my gallery.

    Thanks, Amy

Hi Amy, no likewise we still have customer sites with this module and we'd still like to resolve the many formatting issues. I guess this isn't a module DS sell a lot of so there's not much pressure/advantage in maintaining it. Shame really as it is a good module/idea and they should put it on the development plan or at least tell us they are retiring it. Best regards, Alan (Logic Rapid Ltd)
