hello.  we've just purchased the entire DataSprings module collection 3.0. in the hopes that the following problem can be solved:

we are using Dynamic Forms to display and edit demographic data.  I've been able to get DF working with a query string parameter in the url which is used in the initial SQL rendering of the form.  I'm able to return a query which populates each of my fields.  What I want to do next on the same form, is have a datagrid with multiple rows and columns to be populated in the same way.

Specifically, the querystring parameter is used to retrieve County demographics on the main form.  On the datagrid, I want to display child records (school districts within county).  Some Counties have 1 school district, others have multiple districts.  I want to show these child records in a datagrid below the main form.

I also need to be able to make the datagrid cells to be "read only" and not give the option to save/update.

Please provide some guidance, I can possibly set up an external example to provide clarification.

    Thank you,

    James

HI, the datagrid field type is relatively new and for now, it's not possible to populate the cells of a datagrid with an SQL query statement. Also, there's no way to show only certain child records in the datagrid and a particular cell cannot be made read only. These are excellent ideas and would be great enhancement requests going forward though. -- David

thanks for the reply. Originally when we used the previous version of Dynamic Forms, I created my own module which displays a datagrid based on a querystring parameter and it works in conjunction with the DF querystring/initial binding functionality. I'll just continue to use it, I was slightly misled by the marketing information for the new version, it said "datagrid" so I assumed it meant a displaying a table with data in it and not a "survey" function.
A solution would be very very simple to implement. Since I have the DF sourcecode, I may extend the datagrid to allow for the desired results.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,

How did you made your own Datagrid field ?

Did you just added 4 questions (columns)  in a row .. and repeated that for 10 rows.. ?

    Please give me a hint...

    Thanks,

    Roel
