I'm trying to create a server asset management form for my company's intranet using Dynamic Forms. The user can enter information for a new server, or select from a list of servers that have already been entered into the database. If a user chooses an existing server, the fields are populated with the information for that server using a SQL query against the database.

I have not been able to figure out how I can use a question event to populate the fields if an existing server is chosen from the dropdown. Is there a way to do this using a question event, and if not, is there a way to work around this limitation to populate the fields with the server information?

    Thanks -Todd

HI, question event to set SQL default value based on another chosen value from a drop down list only works on a single field (textbox/hidden for example) and will not be able to populate an entire form. To populate an entire form, you will need to use SQL binding with the DSParam1 query variable option. However, you will most likely need to split the form into two separate forms. You could place two DF modules on one page, with the top form giving the user a drop down list of servers and then passing this value as DSParam1 querystring to the same page where the bottom DF module will use SQL binding to retrieve the values of the fields from the database. You can check out form demo 14 for something to this effect (http://www.datasprings.com/Products...ault.aspx) -- David

David, thanks again! I followed your instructions and I was able to use two Dynamics Forms modules on the same page, one for selecting the server from a combo box and the other for displaying and updating or adding.
