    Hi,

Just updraged from 2.75 to 3.x. Everything appeared to work fine but I'm getting the following error. Any idea how to resolve?

    Hi,

Can you tell me when you go to Host, Host Settings, what version of the .NET Framework it shows you are running on?

Also, did you recently upgrade your framework from 1.0 to 3.5? I did see this in the DotNetnuke.com forum:

"This tends to happen when you still have a copy of System.Web.Extensions.dll in your bin folder, but you have the 3.5 version of MS Ajax installed on the server - you can typically resolve it by removing the extra dll."

Can you give that a try? Do you see a system.web.extensions and an AJAXControlToolkit.dll in your bin directory?

    Good day,

I am also receiving the 'UpdatePanel' is ambiguous in the namespace" error as metioned above.  I recenting upgraded my DNN installation from 4.9.5 to 5.2.3.  I also upgraded my .Net framework to 3.5 SP1.  I just purchased the Dynamic Forms module and installed it on my site.  I click on the wizard and I then get the above mentioned error.  I know its probably due to conflicking system.web.extension settings, but don't know how to resolve the issue.  The version in my /bin directory is 1.0.61025.0, and I have another version in the c:\program files\reference assemblies\microsoft\framework\v3.5 folder.  My web.config file seems to reference both.

Can you shed some light on how to resolve my problem, taking into consideration that I am still very new with DNN and I am not a developer!

    Thanks so much!

    - Joe

    Hi Joe,

Are you by chance running the Nuke Press Blog Module? If so I would also check with them because I know most of our clients that had this problem was related to some changes their module made to the web.config file.

If its not an extra DLL in the bin directory then I think here is what would fix your issue:
    1. Make a backup of your web.config file.
    2. Take a web.config that comes with DNN 523 (or whatever version you are on) and copy the entire contents into your web.config
    3. Take the connection string information and machinekey from your backup copy and place them into your web.config file.
    4. Copy in any other specific configuration options from your existing backup web.config copy that might be specific to your DNN installation.

I think what happened was earlier versions of DNN and some modules made some updates to the web.config which woudl show multiple instances of the .NET Framework (both 1.0 and 3.5 etc...). So, if you make sure you are running on the standard web.config that comes with DNN you should be ok.

    Thanks!

    -Chad
