What are the steps to create a completion event with a link in the email that when clicked, 1) confirms the email is valid, 2) and the user who filled out the form is the person requesting the information?

Can I create an event, perhaps with SQL database, that would email a pdf file to the user withing minutes of verifying that the request and email is bona-fide?

Well, I don't quite understand what you are requesting. So a person types in their email address in a textbox field. Do you want to verify that the email they entered is a valid email field format or validate that it's actually that person's email address?

Personally, I don't see a way to confirm that the person filling out a form is who they say there are since realistically, all you need is a valid username/password combination to register and log onto a site to fill out a form. -- David

    David:

I wasn't detailed enough.  I'm not looking for photo identification type verififcation but rather trying to eliminate bogus emails and requests.

    Bogus 1

A person enters john@gmail.com as an email assuming john whomever is a valid email and the phone number to the local convenience store as a joke.

    Bogus 2

An enemy of someone enters the email address of someone they don't like making me think this person wants the information

David, it's very common nowdays to have an email sent to verify the request is bona-fide.

Also is it possible to create a completion event that would send a pdf file upon completion?

HI, so I guess what you want is that if I go to your website form and type in an email address of:

    john@gmail.com

which is bogus, you want it an email completion event in dynamic forms to send the email to "john@gmail.com" as well as the "admin" of the site, which would be you? -- David

    This is very common

    1. I sign up for a website, newsletter or "free report."
    2. I put in my preferred user name or some site require that the username be the email address.
    3. The form makes sure a human is completing it with validation or captcha
    4. I hit submit
    5. I get an email with instructions to click a link to verify you did sign up for the website, newsletter or free report.
    6. Because I did indeed sign up for this newsletter I click the link
    7. By clicking the link in the verification email that was sent I am acknowledging that the request or signup is bona-fide and now the user account will be authenticated and confirmed. The email address will be in an OPT-IN status for newsletters and free reports.

    Does this make sense?

Oh, okay, then I suppose you want to check out our sister product Dynamic Registration. If you set up your DNN Admin / Site Settings to be "Verified", you can then use Dynamic Registration to send the user an email with the "Verification Link / Code" for them to click on which would accomplish what you are attempting to do. You can download a trial version of Dynamic Registration and set up a simulation of this on your local website for testing. -- David

Yes, pretty much similar functions except it's designed to mapped user profiles for registration/updates,etc. -- David

Hello, we also want this 'mail verification' functionality.
We bought Dynamic Forms last week (and not bought Dynamic Registration) because we register new users in a table outside DNN. (we are not registering DNN users, but other users, outside DNN).

    Kind regards,

HI, if you just use Dynamic Forms, then I suppose you could set up a dynamic forms "Verification Page". Then in your other DF form, have a hidden field of "VerificationLink" that will contain the URL of the verification page to send the user to, along with their UserID.

In your "Verification Page", you could prompt for more questions, etc. and write the info to a separate SQL table for tracking the user's UserID/responses,etc. This may work as a verification link option.

Anybody have other ideas concerning setting up verifcation links in dynamic forms that may be more efficient than what I'm proposing? -- David
