    Hi,

I'm trying to implement a delete button on my form.  It's going ok so far ... I've added it in the footer in the module configuration section because I  want to to appear after the submit button.  I don't seem to be able to make it appear next to the submit button so it just displays underneath which is fine for now.

I'm using javascript to change the sqltype to 'D' and then submit the form.  The issue that I'm having is that on submission validation is triggered.  Of course I don't want this for a delete button.  Is there anyway that I can disable this via javascript for that button?

Hi. Thanks for your post... Unfortunately I don't really believe there is an easy way around this, I think you might need to end up using SQL Validation instead of regular validation. If there was a way around this it would almost be a security breach because technically the form is being submitted.

So maybe use SQL Validation and then also check the SQLType field and always return that the form validation is ok if the value is D, otherwise validate within the SQL query?

    Thanks,

    -Chad

One other question ... how do I cause the form completion events to trigger when initiating a form submission via javascript? I'm noticing while in debug mode that my events are firing when I click the delete button but they do when I click the submit button.

The javascript for the delete button fires off ok and a postback occurs but in the debug trace the form completion events aren't firing and nothing is getting updated in the DB ...

    Please advise ...

Hi. Is the JavaScript you are using for the postback the "EXACT" same JavaScript that is behind/under the Save/Submit link button? If so then it should work and also it should fire off form completion events.

The best thing to do here might be to try and setup a quick demonstration that has just a few fields and a delete button at www.betasprings.com (you can sign in there as host/dnnhost). If you setup your example there we might be able to provide you with more tips on how to accomplish this.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Hi Chad,

I tried it with the exact same code but it did not work. You can see the code below:

    <a href="#" onclick="javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions('dnn$ctr406$DynamicForms$imgSave', '', true, 'DynamicForms_406', '', false, false))"><img src="http://old.datasprings.com/portals/0/delete.jpg" border="0"></a>

I had other code in it to change a hidden field to indicate that this was a delete action but I deleted everything and just put the same code that was in the submit button to see if it would work.

I just basically have an image of a delete button with javascript in the onclick event. Clicking it doesn't trigger anything, not even a postback now. Is it because the delete button is just an image and not a control?

Do you have any other suggestions?

So ... is this not possible? Is there a possibility of a delete button option in a future release?
