An existing .net site is being converted to DNN.  Is there a source view option or an import option to paste existing forms into DNN via Dynamic Forms instead of rebuilding each one?

    Hello Dan,

The answer is yes... Dynamic Forms supports IPortable. IPortable is a feature that allows you to Export and Import your Dynamic Forms configuration settings to an XML file. You can Export the file to a folder on your server under Admin -> File Manager. Upon Exporting, you will need to go to Admin -> File Manager and download the XML file that you Exported.

Now that you have the file, you can upload it to any server you have in mind. For this file to mean anything of course, you will need to have Dynamic Forms installed on the site in order to perform the import. Otherwise, it's a useless XML file. Once you perform the Import, all of the configuration settings will remain intact reflecting the configuration settings of the Dynamic Form upon using the Export feature.

Now you're wondering where can you find the Import and Export features? It is available in the jQuery "Manage" menu, such as where you hover your mouse and a list of menu items pop up.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Thank you, I am actualy aware of the IPortable functionaity.  But, that's not what I am asking about.

What I want to know is the following; Is there a way to take a form from another ASP.NET site (not another DNN site) and load it into Dynamic Forms?

    Hello Dan,

Unfortunately there isn't. Dynamic Forms is a hefty piece of code that you can't simply paste ASP.Net code into it and render a form.

Dynamic Forms is not a form itself. It's a form building tool, there's a big difference

That is a very interesting idea that could be an enhancement request for the future. But the code to allow something like this would be cumbersome to implement alongside with Dynamic Forms original capabilities.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

ok, thank you for clarifying.  I'm not sure what it would take to add that type of functionality to the Dynamic Forms module but if it existed we would certainly make use of it on multiple occasions.
