I am new with this module.

I've just created a form, field etc... design part of the form is fine.

I want now to have my form mailed to me (administrator) and the person who filled out the form.

I tried with new event,  Dynamic email, and followed the guide instruction but it doesn't work (I do nt receive any email from the form)

What exactly do I have to do?

Any suggestion, it's a quite easy request but cannot succeed for the moment.

    Patrick,

Hi. Well you are headed down the right path... A few questions.

    1. Does email work in other areas of DNN? For example, if you go to Admin, Newsletter and try and send yourself a message do you receive it there? If so what is the from and email to address? If not, check the SMTP settings under Host, Host Settings, Advanced, SMTP Configuration. Dynamic Forms uses the same function calls that the core does to send out email so if it works int he core it should work in Dynamic Forms.

    2. Is your email event set to be fired for 'Any Field Response' or is it based conditionally upon a users response?

    3. What is the email from and email to settings set to? If you are using email tokens (for example to email the user submitting the form) then try and just set these temporarily to static email addresses and then once you verify that its working properly go ahead and change them to then use the tokens.

    Hi Chad,

I am having a similar problem when it comes down to the Dynamic Email.  I have roughly 20 forms that I have developed recently, and I am just about ready to say they are complete; the only thing in the way is that most of the forms do not send emails.

I do have one or two that work perfectly, and I use the same settings for the ones that do not work.  I am also submitting the forms with the exact same user input.

Here are some things I have found about Dynamic Forms that may be of some interest or perhaps useful to you and other users:

    • Most of the time, when I use a table inside of the email message ("Generate Results Template" will create one), the email does not send.  It does send without the table
    • I had problems with questions containing a space in their Short Names (i.e. $(First Name) should be $(FirstName))
    • I also found that if there is only 1 submission event, the Event Sort Order should be greater than 0

If you can offer any insight to this topic, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks very much!

    Kevin,

These are all very strange and nothing that I have seen reported before.... Is it possible the tokens were added to the template as $(First Name) and then you changed the short field name later?

Either way, you should 'Enable DEBUG MODE' when submitting the form. This should then spit out information to first make sure the actual event is firing off and should show all of the results. If the email doesn't get sent are there any messages when debug mode is enabled? What if you go to admin/event log?

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Chad,

We are currently using Dynamic Forms 2.5.3 and we had an email event set up and correctly running for several years now. Recently our host migrated us to a new machine, on a new network.
Since we are also using Advanced email newsletter, we noticed that certain recipients were being blocked and their emails were bouncing due to a "relaying error" or something like that. We had to change our SMTP HOST settings to use basic authentication and a valid email address username and password.
This change has allowed us to still send the newsletter and now we have everyone receiveing it. However, our Dynamic Forms email is no longer being sent.
Since this new setup required us to change our host SMTP settings, is there something else I need to change within Dynamic Forms?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    --Steven

    Never Mind.

    Problem resolved.

I tested the Core Newsletter and that was not working either (although the DS Advanced email newsletter worked yesterday). So I started poking around some more and discovered that my password had not saved in my Host SMTP settings (insert Face Palm here). I have no idea how this happened, since it was updated and working yesterday.

    Sorry to waste your time.
