Something odd began in the past day or so with question events.

We have a form with 30 or so questions, 4 of which have question events that hide/unhide other questions based on response.  Now, if a user selects ANY of the question event fields, the form basically resets and clears all form fields and will not 'unhide' the related questions.   If I login as an admin or host, the form works properly. Only users logging in experience this.  I can find nothing wrong with the form itself.

This has been working for many months and then just started failing.  Any ideas?

Are your questions also "role based", meaning they hide based on user roles? Has there been changes in user roles? If possible, can you export your page to www.betasprings.com (username: host, password: dnnhost) and put it in section Dynamic Forms and send the URL link so we can take a look at it? -- David

No, no role based questions. Just hiding and unhiding based on other questions.  Again, the odd thing is that the forms work for admin accounts but not for general, registered, logged-in users.

    See: http://www.betasprings.com/Dynamic-...fault.aspx

Not sure it'll reveal much as the form is dependent on SQL queries which the results of in turn hide or unhide other options.

Any ideas what I might be able to do to get the form working for 'regular users' again?

Hi Andrew, I'm checking it out right now. It's a pretty complicated, in-depth form. -- David

Andrew, you're right. I can't duplicate it since they're SQL driven and I don't have the same SQL tables to cause the question events to trigger.
    1) Has anything changed in the SQL tables, like permissions for users, etc?
    2) Can you try disabling / deleting all the question events and then re-create them one by one and see if this works? NOTE: you already have an XML backup of the file so it should be okay to delete and recreate each question event one by one to see where the problem may have occurred. -- David

Yeah... it is.  Basically, users select a particular 'environment' at which point a list of related servers for that environment 'unhide'.  I needed to do this to reduce the number of available selections which run into the several hundreds.  There are a few other events that in turn prompt for additional options.  Here are some of the other odd behaviors that have come up.

    • Admins can use the form fine. Users cannot.
    • Occasionally, one of the drop down options in 'Environment' (serverpicker) will work (rarely) and cause the server names list boxes to appear (unhide).  Once selected, it cannot be changed to another environment. It simply reverts to the previously selected option.
    • The default option for the environment is a 'please select- record in the db. Most often if the user selects one of the other 'environments' that is available, it simply reverts back to '-please select-' and clears the form.
    • Also, if the text fields are filled in, then any of the questionevent options are selected, the form clears like a page refresh.

I should mention that this complete, working forms module was deleted by another admin user and I restored it from the recycle bin.  Since then, the problems have begun.  It is possible that the deletion and restore has somehow corrupted the module settings somehow? Odd that it still works fine for admins but not for user.  I hate to have to recreate it from scratch but diagnostics and repair may exceed the time it takes to rebuild it.

You should check the "environment" settings for the user then. Also, you should only have to re-do 4 question events and any SQL driven questions to see if they are still posting back the correct lists. -- David

When you say "environment settings" what do you mean exactly?

When a user selects a particular "environment" to have access to a list of servers, has that environment settings been changed such that some users no longer have access and therefore the list may not be populating or triggering the question event? -- David

No, actually, the initial queries returned the list of environments from the DB just fine. Any that you selected simply refreshed the page and reset the drop down to -Please Select-.
I was able to fix the form finally by exporting the content, deleting the form, adding a new Dynamic Forms module and re-importing the content.
Thanks for all the suggestions, it was very helpful. I was just getting ready to start building it new and decided to try the export/import and that fixed it.
    Thanks again!
