Integrate DotNetNuke w/ Paypal

This example demonstrates Tailored Text/HTML integrated with Dynamic Forms to create a payment solution with Paypal. This solution will become easier as we add features to Dynamic Forms, but for now this provides a method for integrating with Paypal.

Step 1: Create two new pages for your payment solution. Add Dynamic Forms module to one page and add the Tailored Text/HTML Module to the 2nd page, specifying the Tailored Text/HTML page as hidden within the page settings.

Step 2: Create the form fields that you would like with Dynamic Forms. We have created some very basic fields below. You do not need to create the product fields or even the hours.  Each solution will be different, but for this example we pass these parameters to our checkout summary (Tailored Text/HTML module).

Step 3: When you create the fields within Dynamic Forms, make sure to check 'Pass Field Values to Querystring' under the advanced field options. Also, make sure you give short names to your fields, as the short name fields are passed to the querystring.

Step 4: Under General Settings, change the redirect page to be the page in which you set up the Tailored Text/HTML module.

Step 5: Navigate to your Tailored Text/HTML page.  Within the page’s settings, create a querystring token for each querystring you are passing from the forms module. You can use this within your Tailored Text/HTML module when you add content. For example, you could say Product: $(ShortProductFieldName)

Step 6: Use SQL Tokens to compute a total, i.e. quantity multiplied by price. An example might be Select $(Quantity) * 80.00, which is in the example below. We multiplied the hours' variable by 80 to get our total, and named this variable MyTotal so that we can use it in the summary as $(MyTotal).

Step 7: Once the Tailored Text/HTML module is displaying your total (and any other variables) you can create your Paypal link. Within the link you will see that its passing values to Paypal. Wherever there is a value passed, such as the total or product name, you can use the Tailored Text/HTML Tokens. For example: replace 39.99 with $(MyTotal)

Example link before changing out the Tailored Text/HTML Values:

Link after changing out the tokens:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=info@datasprings.com&item_name=$(MyProduct)&amount=$(MyTotal)&no_shipping=2&no_note=1&currency_code=USD&lc=US&bn=PP-BuyNowBF&charset=UTF-8
