    Hi there,

I would like to generate a form for creating business cards. For that I'm using some information out of the Active Directory. But one important information is not available within AD and so I stored them in an Excel-Sheet. Is there a way to generate a SQL-Statement for searching inside an Excel-Sheet? The unique field is the usernamem which is stored in Excel as well.

    Thanks

    Joerg

HI Joerg, I don't believe it's possible to perform an SQL statement on an native excel spreadsheet. However, you can export your excel spreadsheet into an SQL table on your DNN site and then use an SQL statement to search on that table. -- David

    Hi David,

    thank you for your answer.
I imported the data into UDT, this seems to work.

But one more thing: one field holds the username. To connect the actuall user with the corresponding entry within UDT, I use the unique username. To do so, I use the token $(UserName) inside the SQL-Statement, but there are no results. Even the SQL-Statement

    Select $(UserName) AS DefaultValue

    returns not a single line.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Best

    Joerg

You might have to have ' before and after the token. Also you might try $(UserID). I am not sure if the SQL Default can already make use of text fields directly (part of SQL Injection Risks). If you setup a quick demo/example of this on Beta Springs we might be able to assist faster as well.

    Hi,

I created a tab called $(UserID) in betasprings.
Maybe you can figure out how it should work

    Best regards

    Joerg

Can you post the URL of the page you created on betasprings? -- David

    Hi David,

the tab I created is here:

    http://www.betasprings.com/Dynamic-...fault.aspx

Unfortunately I can not edit the form, the SQL-Statement is shown as DefaultValue. After I logged in, I'm still not able to edit form settings

    Best regards,

    Joerg

Hi Joerg, I don't believe you want to have the SQL statement as the default value entered in the default option. Also, I changed the SQL statement to read:
select UserName AS DefaultValue from users where userid =$(UserID)

Here I am puling username from the users DNN table. If you're pulling username from another table, just use it but it should be mapped to a userid as well. Try this out and see if it works for you. -- David
