I'm new to this and not very technology savvy. I've created my form and have created the submit button. Unfortunately, when I try submitting a form, no results save. When I export to Excel, I see my data fields, but not results. Obviously, there is something I need to do under form completion events, but I do not understand what.

Hi Marcia, What Dynamic Forms version are you on? When you submit the form then go in and View Form Results, is that all blank? Candace |

Dynamic Forms 3.0 - Yes, when I go in and View Form Results - it's blank. There is no information with dates, etc., like I see in the user's guide. |

Do I need to select Dynamic SQL Statement under Form Completion Events? If so I have no idea of what to place in the SQL statement. Please forgive my ignorance! |

No, you do not need to have a SQL event (or any event) for it to log in View Form Results. We haven't heard this being previously reported so I will need to ask you some more questions. When you edit any of the questions, under Advanced Field Options, do you have 'do not save to database' checked at all?
Also, if you create a new page and load a very simple Dynamic Forms there, does it behave the same way? Thanks!

Hi Candace, I haven't found any questions where I've chosen 'do not save to database' (under Advanced Field Options). I was able to create a simple form using the form wizard and the data did save and export to Excel. I don't know if this will help but this is the difference between the properties listed for the two 'submit' links - the first for the form I created and the second for the quick form I created to test the data save features. Properties for my form's 'submit' button: javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("dnn$ctr963 Properites for the sample form's 'submit' button: javascript:__doPostBack('dnn$ctr989$DynamicForms$lnkSave','') Does this tell you anything? |

Hi Marcia,
Great! Glad to hear it's working on a separate page. So, back to the original form -- not sure yet if that makes a difference. Can you verify that the form actually submits? Please go to Module Configuration and set a redirect after save to a completely different page. Also, can you please try to create an email completion event? Go to Completion Events, choose email as the type and select 'Any field response' then just fill out the email to & from + subject. Then for the body of the email, please find 'Generate Full Results Template' at the right side of the screen. Make sure you hit update event then test it out again. I'm curious if the results will show up in the email at all. (If it doesn't redirect, that means the form is not even fully submitting.) Thanks!

Candace,
No redirections occurred and no results were saved for export. Also, no email was generated.
I did try the same with the sample form I created below my actual form module. It was interesting . . . The results did save and exported to Excel, yet no redirection occurred nor was an email generated with that form either. |

Correction, Yesterday, the redirect and the email action did not work on the sample form, but today it is working. Unfortunately, both the redirect and the email action does not work on my actual form - so the form is not fully submitting. I have checked "do not save to database" on 'Text/HTML' questions. I do not have them as actual questions. I've used the 'Text/HTMLl' choices as types of subject headings for new sets of questions. Is this causing the problem? Should I use something else for text to explain sets of questions? I've also use 'Text/HTML' for a table at the top including the title of the form, our logo, and contact #'s. |

HI Marcia, can you export your "actual form" to www.betasprings.com (username: host, password: dnnhost) and post the URL / tabid here so someone at Datasprings can take a look at the issue? Thanks. -- David |

Hi David I would love to export it, but not being very technology savvy, I don't understand how. When I choose 'export' on the module, it's only allowing me to export it to another place on our website. Would you be kind enough to give me more specific instructions? |

Yes, export content will export the XML file onto your local website. You can go to Admin / File Manager and traverse to the directory where it is stored, click on the filename and save it to your local hard drive. Then go to www.betasprings.com, log in with host credentials and again, go to Admin / File Manager to upload the file somewhere on betasprings. Then create a page / add in the DF module and import the content. -- David |

David, I'm sorry - I don't set up the pages on our website. Someone else usually does and he's on vacation. I was able to upload the file in the Portal Root DynamicForms_Uploads area of betasprings.com. See next: content.DynamicForms.DynamicForms.xml 7/26/2009 10:51:56 AM A 211,244 (I'm not sure why it's showing as 7/26/2009.) Since I don't create the pages, I'm unsure how to create the page on your site, add the DF module and import the content. Would you be able to do it based on my info. above? I apologise again for my lack of knowledge in this area. |

David, No problem. I'm hoping to have it ready for Columbus Ski Club sign-ups by August 5th. I still have to get PayPal set up on it. Hopefully I won't have to bug you guys for help on it, also! Marcia |

HI Marcia, found out what the problem was. You also have the following fields marked as required but there's no text error message associated with them so that' why the form isn't submitting. Do you need the following fields to be required? If so, perhaps enter a required field text and required field message for them. Question: S/H Pri/Email (radiobutton) set to required Question: S/H Pri/Ph (radiobutton) set to required Question: Also send me the 2-page paper TRACK (CheckBox) set to required -- David |
