We have a dropdown box on our form, and would like to enable the "Other" option to allow a user to enter a value not in the drop-down.

Alternatively, a 2nd dynamic field could be there to free-text other.

In either case, how can we configure an alert to warn the user of something BEFORE they are allowed to enter text in the field?

Say, the click to type free-text in the dropdown and Modal or Popup warns them "hey, you can do this, and we'll note it - but it is currently not a supported option - blah blah blah"

HI, you could use client side javascript to issue an Alert("You can type something here")

Place this in the client side event under Advance Field Options for the combobox dropdown. -- David

I was trying to figure out where or how to get to the steps defined in the User Guide (http://www.datasprings.comuserguide...Guide.pdf) on page 159.

That seems like it is the piece of gold I am on the hunt for, but I can not find a matching screen as the one displayed there.

Simply have a hidden field, and if they choose other - have two dynamic fields become visibile - one just being text that includes the warning, the other being an actual free-text field where they can enter their non-standard option.

Oh geez. NEver mind... it is up in the Control Panel, and I was looking for it on the form field details section - bangs head on wall.
