I cannot seem to get the scheduler to work and a critical error is now occuring on the Control Panel so I cannot change the scheduler settings.
I need help ASAP to:
- Get the advanced Control Panel working again
- Get the scheduler working
Nothing shows up in the error log when scheduling a message.
What works
- The "Send Immediately" feature works fine. "Schedule Immediately" and "Schedule for" both do not work--no email is sent.
- The advanced Control Panel was working. I started creating a campaign and left before it was finished--I think this may have caused the problem.
What I have tried to fix the control panel
- Turning off AJAX
- Restaring the application
- Updating the web.config so the app would restart
Control panel error
I cannot tweak the scheduler parameters because the advanced control panel is throwing an error. I just want to schedule an email--if I can do this without the control panel, that is fine--I can fix it later.
When I click "Control Panel" on the "Opt In - Advanced Email", I receive this error message: "A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
Error log:

Other information
Installing the application crashed my site due to the problems with the ChilkatDotNet.dll. I installed both the 32 and 64 bit versions, but still had to delete the file to get my site running again. (The fact that this is a known issue on GoDaddy is very frustrating.)
Host info
- DNN: 5.2.1
- Op-In: 4.2.1
- Host: GoDaddy
Please let me know what steps I need to take to get the scheduler module working.
Thanks so much for your time. |

Please... I am dead in the water here and could use some support. I need to send out a newsletter today.
Do I need to uninstall and reinstall? This might fix the control panel issue, but I don't know if it will fix the scheduler issue.
What information is needed to fix the problem?
Thanks. |

Hi Fred, I am not sure what would have caused the problem, possibly if you had the scheduler setup to run too often and cause duplicate instances to kick off? I think if you open a support ticket we can clear out some tables to make sure you can get back into the control panel but you will lose any existing newsletters you created etc... Unfortunately there isn't much we can do about the hosting issue with GoDaddy. The ability to check for bouncebacks requires a higher security level then the GoDaddy security settings are setup for. This is currently the only major host I know that this is a problem on and there isn't much we can do about that. -Chad |

How do I open a support ticket? (Not trying to be flippant... I just can't find it on the site.)
If you can tell me which table values to clear/set/check, I can do it myself.
Would it be faster to reinstall?
Thanks. |

Hi Fred,
You can open a support ticket through your Snowcovered.com account. You may also use the Contact Us Form. Thanks!

The Control Panel issue was caused by a scheduled email. I deleted all the "sent" emails and was able to get back into the Control Panel.
I still cannot schedule an email--nothing is ever sent. I used your Contact Us form to open a support ticket.
Thanks. |

Fred, here is some secondary advice. Don't host DNN sites on Godaddy. They just aren't equipped to handle them properly. You are not saving enough money by hosting with them to make all of these problems worth it.
DNN and discount hosts don't mix. I have run into problems with IXhosting as well. By going with a discount host you are automatically adding twice as many headaches as you need. I currently have 15 DNN websites and am saying this from experience |

Thanks for the advice, Alavri. What DNN hosting sites do you recommend? |

I use www.resellerchoice.com and www.powerdnn.com , powerdnn is one of the best because they only host DNN sites and offer support for DNN also, but you pay more for them. I also use this one when my clients need a 1800 number they can call 24/7, or it is a mission critical site. I use reseller choice for most of my sites, and have a reseller package with them (over 70 sites in total, 15 are DNN ) . Their support is great, and their servers are fast. Best host I have found so far and I have tried over 10 in the last few years. Even though they are a reseller you can get a 5 domain package with one MSSQL Database for $10 a month , and use it for only one site. They have a DNN installer also that is great for a new DNN site, it starts you off with a fresh install of the latest version of DNN with the database all hooked up and ready to go. Here are some others I have tried for DNN: www.re-invent.net - good but support is slower than resellerchoice, www.ihostasp.net - good but servers were slow, helm interface very outdated Here is a good place to read reviews: http://www.dnncreative.com/Forum/ta...fault.aspx Hope this info helps! |

I also had the same issue with Godaddy and DNN, I am also running my DNN’s with www.resellerchoice.com now and never been happier. |

I have several dnn sites with godaddy without issue, you have to use their outgoing smtp server though. |

Also as a reminder, when you setup your email in the scheduler, Set this as low as possible, as some hosts will kill your account, thinking it has been compromised. For instance I had to change 200 every five minutes to 30 every five minutes and it works just fine. But the 200 every five minutes gave me SMTP connection issues due to the host flagging my SMTP account. |

Thanks James.... Yes, you will want to know any and all limitations your hosting provider might have for how many emails can go out. Your settings for 30 every 5 minutes might be ok but what if you ended up with 20,000? emails? Some also have other restrictions such as no more then 200 in a 24 hours period or no more then 1000 in a 12 hour period etc... Just something to ask them. -Chad |

I wish we had 20k:-) Just giving an example of what I did to solve a strange SMTP error. The error I saw is: InnerException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: net_io_connectionclosed. FileName: FileLineNumber: -1 FileColumnNumber: -1 Method: StackTrace: Message: System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: net_io_connectionclosed. at System.Net.Mail.SmtpReplyReaderFactory.ProcessRead(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 read, Boolean readLine) at System.Net.Mail.SmtpReplyReaderFactory.ReadLines(SmtpReplyReader caller, Boolean oneLine) at System.Net.Mail.SmtpReplyReaderFactory.ReadLine(SmtpReplyReader caller) at System.Net.Mail.SmtpConnection.GetConnection(String host, Int32 port) at System.Net.Mail.SmtpTransport.GetConnection(String host, Int32 port) at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.GetConnection() at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Send(MailMessage message) I am sure we can go more than 30 in five minutes, but was a quick fix for a 356 user list. |
