Hi!

I am using dynamic forms version 3.10.1 on DNN 5.1.2 with IIS7 on Win2008(SP2) and SQL08(SP1)

When I change e.g. the Text of the submit-Linkbutton and click "Update Settings" then the System hangs up and the app is restarted

this happens in Firefox 3.5.7 and also in ie 8.0.6001 (under Windows Vista) and under XP Pro with Firefox 3.5.7

The Statusbar of Firefox shows a "Waiting for www.AAA.at" and the progressbar is empty forever until I cancel and reload the page after the app has restartet (See Screenshot below)

The only message in the eventlog is:

20.01.2010 15:09:58   Application Started        ...

Server-Name: V08-1

I can reproduce this effect everytime I try .. .the serverload is higher than normal when this happens

Please help me to fix this behaviour very urgent. Because I will not be paid by my customer until this issue is fixed 

any thought about how to get closer to the problem is highly appreciated...

How's it going in Vienna?

I had this problem and it nearly took down a site that was about to go live!

Here's the fix that worked for me:
-Go to Host > Settings > advanced settings > performance settings
-reset you caching
-module caching method: disk
-cache settings: moderate (this is important! Likely the problem!)
-authenticated cacheabilit: server & no cache (this is important! Most likely the problem!)
-compression settings: no compression

Thanks for your reply ... About vienna ... its cold and we have a lot of snow at the moment. Each time i walk the dog in the morning, I wish it were spring ;-)

My settings are exactly as you described and the whitespace filter is unchecked in the host settings

I cleared the cache, but the problem remains the same

Because you mentioned the cache, I was thinking about caching issues too before, my thoughts came to pageblaster and so I added a exclude pathpattern in  the pageblasterconfig file for the path "Dynamic" ... to exclude all optimizations for the pages/tabs which are holding dynamic forms modules

But his had no effect for this problem ... this is driving me crazy ...

Hi Don,

We have reviewed this in the past and still continue to do so. From what we have found...
1. This only happens when running on a 64 bit operating system and IIS7, and it doesn't technically happen all of the times on these environments.
2. The settings you are trying to save do appear to get saved however you have to refresh the page afterward because of the error.
3. The error that is coming up seems very generic which is another reason why we have had trouble finding the actual cause.
4. The work around is listed on this thread: http://www.datasprings.com/Products...ault.aspx. That thread also includes a more detailed details on the error.

I am thinking if we can get host rights to your site and we can duplicate this and we research it further. We have not been able to have a test environment recently that we could duplicate it on.
