    HI, follow the steps below:

    1) on your original form, click on the little down arrow next to the module name and choose "Export Content". Then choose the sub-directory that you want the XML content file to be saved to
    2) go to your other form, click on "Import Content", traverse to the sub-directory that you saved the XML file and then choose it from the drop down list
    3) that's it. Now your form has additional fields from the original form

On the other hand, if you want an exact duplicate copy (without the additional fields of the 2nd form), then you can use the "Control Panel" edit mode and choose option to "Copy existing module". With this process, the control/parent template is the original form. Whenever you modify the original form, it's copy will also be modified/updated.

I hope this explains two types of copies that you can perform with DNN. -- David

I copied a form using the import/export method and it seemed to work great at first.

Then I realized that none of my complicated 15 form completion events works. Is this how it is supposed to work? They are listed (with a '(0)' after them). But they have no logic associated with them.

Can I get around this? I am proficient in using SQL if that helps me.

An update on this. I'm assuming this is a bug. The event type is not copied. Everything is defaulted to 0. Another issue I had was that the isCondition field is also not copied but rather defaulted to 0.

    Hello Total Golf,

Unfortunately when using IPortable / Import and Export functions of the module the Form Completion Events are lost due to the IPortable section of code in our module. Overtime generating this XML file has left some bugs. We have been addressing this issue however and hope to have this cleaned up soon.

If you have any questions please let us know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Hi,

Has this issue been addressed in the latest (4.0) release?

    Hi LP,
I think it has. I did do an export recently with DF 3.4 which is just prior to DF 4.x which is now out and my export. . import carried with it the completion events so I would think that DF 4.x would have corrected this. I would suggest downloading the trial and testing the trial out for this feature and many others that are available. With the DNN conference going this week we have some promos that you may want to take advantage of. If you do please provide us your invoice ID and we can look up your discount and provide a promo code for you.
    Thanks

By the way, anyone running across this article as time goes on should know that the issue is addressed, and doing a form EXPORT and then form IMPORT as described works perfectly now. All questions, form completion actions, question events, etc come over perfectly in the copied/imported form.

    thanks!
