I am trying to add some additional functionality to the ExecuteRegistration process, but do not want to change the source code.  For example, one of the things I am attempting to do is limit the number of choices made by a user in a multi-select Listbox question given some other question's response.  This would be simple enough if I could get to the Listbox at the point just before it was processed within the ExecuteRegistration method.  Is there anyway to add a public virtual method that is called at the beginning of ExecuteRegistration that would allow Dynamic Registration module users to override this function on the ascx side to add any required custom functionality?  I suspect there may be other areas of the DynamicRegistration module where such overrides might come in handy. 

I am using DNN 4.5 with DynamicRegistration 2.4.

Ummm... I think you can already do this? There is a feature called Question Events and you could for example (based on a another questions response) hide a question or display a hidden question etc... In your case you could just have it display the listbox question and use SQL for the question options. One of the benefits of using SQL for the question options is that you can also use the previous question short field name within the query to limit the number of listbox options. With your example above were you wanting to limit the number that they could select or were you actually wanting to limit whats in the list? If you are trying to limit whats in the list you can use the short field name within the query.

Example:
Select Text as QuestionOption, Text as QuestionOptionValue from yourcustometable where somefield = '$(QuestionOneShortFieldName)'

Basically this could check the table and only pull in items from the table and its adding a clause to only pull in values based on question one.

This might sound confusing but the short version is you can limit the number of options that show up in Question Two (the listbox) based on the Question One (some other field)

This might be the wrong direction though based on your questions so provide some more clarification and we will see what options are available. I just made a post for whats to come in 3.0, you might it out to see if anything within the upcoming release will help.
