I have a need for a forms module and on the fence over a couple of products. I like the ease of use of Dynamic forms best, and on the 'submit data' side, it seems to be the most configurable to do exactly what I am trying to do.

I read through the entire manual and was quite impresses with how intuitive everything is; one thing missing, however, is any information on displaying the data.

Here's what I am trying to do:

Create a simple form with a half dozen fields-a yes/no radio, a drop-down for state, a text field for zip-code, a 1-5 rating radio cluster, and a dollar figure field. Once users populate the fields, I would like the data stored in the SQL DB; then, one another page, I would like to give users the ability to query these data, populate a table/grid view based on their search parameters and perhaps filters.

This seems easily doable with Dynamic Forms, except I see nothing on the display side in the manual.

Any insight as to whether or not I can do what I need to do with the module and how one goes about displaying the data based on form-based search parameters? And are the data stored in the SQL DB, rather than XML docs?

Also, have you considered a smaller bundle of your products?  Just starting out, the $300+ 19 module is a bit overkill, but the opt-in email, dynamic registration, survey module, and forms would be a great bundle for me...just hard to swallow the $80 for a opt-in email, despite how powerful and beautiful your product is.

I was waiting for XMod 5 and looking at Enterprise and Form Master, but I keep coming back to Dynamic for its intuitive and 'newbie friendly' design...good stuff, guys!

    John,

    Hi. Thanks for your questions.

As far as the data - the data is always saved in relational database tables that can easily be accessed by any other 3rd party module for pulling in data from the database (for example even the standard DotNetNuke Reports Module). Additionally, you have the option to create as few or as many 'Dynamic SQL Events' when the form submissions. The events can be based conditionally upon a specific response or always fired on form submission. Either way to pull in the data you would have to use another module such as our Tailored Text module, or a reporting datagrid module. We do plan to offer many more enhancements in future releases specifically for displaying submitted data. Right now you can view all of the results within Dynamic Forms for that particular module instance and you can view the details, sort details, and export the data to excel. This is very limiting for many users though and we are working on a few dashboard modules that will allow users/admins to display details in a seperate module, show details above or below a forms submission, allow users to view 'All of their forms they have submitted' etc... A few things down the road though, this is for sure an area we are planning many enhancements for.

So for now, it sounds like Dynamic Forms would get the data stored in the database as you would like and you could use another module (possibly even the core reports module) to report details on that data. If you end up going this route let me know and I can provide you with some SQL queries to pull in particular results based on a particular dynamic forms instance etc...

    -Chad
