I am trying to replicate the field below using this module. How can you use onchange for all text fields? My client needs all fields uppercased no matter what the user types in.

    "input type="text" onchange="upperCase(this.id)" maxlength="40" size="20" id="city" name="city" "

I already put the javascript in the custom javascript file.

    Thanks!

HI, I know it can be done using client side javascript functions and I have seen it done on previous websites with Dynamic Forms that I've logged into before but did not look at the javascript functions they were using. Perhaps someone else can provide it for you on this forum. -- David

    Hi,

You might want to review the user guide and also the demos related to client side events... I know normally client side events are added to fields 'onblur' events however if you name the short field name something like 'SomethingOnKeyUp' it will also fire when you type something in. I would check the user guide for 'onkeyup' or 'onkeypress' and see how client side events can be fired off instead of just onblur.

Also, please review the demos, I think demo 7 is great for client side events at http://www.datasprings.com/formdemos.

If you need us to directly code or assist in implementing client side events this can be done via Premium Support hours at http://www.datasprings.com/Premium-Support. If you know JavaScript though you should be able to implement it pretty easily.. Something like a client side event such as:

    $(YourField) = YourUpperCaseFunction($(YourField))

    Thanks,

    Chad

after many hours I finally got this to work properly. There is nothing in the documentation that explains how to do this. the documentation could use some more info on how to use javascript with this module

HI, the reason why there isn't any documentation for using client side javascript is because javascript itself is it's own programming language. We enable our modules to support javascript for user customization (such as calculations, etc). Also, javascript is very vast and can be personalized to each individual's desire. For somewhat easy tasks, we can quickly create / post the javascript on this forum or through email support but for more complicated tasks, we would support this through paid premium support since it would take our developers time to figure out the syntax/procedures as well.

Sometimes, users of our products will post their own javascript developments here to share with the group, sometimes they don't. I hope this explains the situation.
