Grab numerical value from a combo box QuestionOption?

    I thought I saw in the forum somewhere a javascript function that would grab the numeric value out of a combo box QuestionOption. Do you know anything about that? Where can I read the details? Thanks

    HI, in a combobox, what do you have as the questionoptionvalue? This is the value that gets stored so I can see a need to use client side javascript to grab the value since you can reference it directly with the shortname token field. -- David

    What I was trying to do was, I needed the user to use only one combo box, but I needed 3 values that were associated with his choice. He chose "Soccer", but I needed to know the SportID, SportName, and Cost for that choice. Usually you can get only one value from one of your combo boxes.

    At first I tried using several additional combo boxes, in addition to the one I described. And they had SQL SELECTs in them to look up the missing pieces of data given the SportID chosen in the first. It worked, but whenever any other question event occurred, it wiped out all the values in all these combos.

    What I wound up doing was creating a new column in my lookup table that had a concatenation of the SportID, SportName, and Cost in standard length sections. And then made that column the QuestionOptionValue of the first combobox and then used a Client Side Event to parse the concatenated values apart and place them in hidden fields for later use. This solution does not empty when other question events run or on a screen refresh.

    Well, you could use question events (setting default values based on another value chosen using SQL option). Another words, have a hidden field for SportID and SportName and use question event to set them based on what the user chose for the Sport combobox option. -- David
