I've got a form with a SQL driven combobox on it and with a client side event that throws values into other hidden fields. How can I get that combo to run it's query and client side event on form open instead of creating a question event to trigger that?

Well, for client side events, you could set that javascript under Module configuration / Initial Javascript for page load and it will get fired on page load. As for the SQL driven combobox, on page load that SQL default driven query should run for your combobox/radio button/checkbox or textbox fields.

If you are still having issues, can you export your form to www.betasprings.com(username: host, password: dnnhost) and post the URL/TABID here and we'll examine the issue. Thanks. -- David

I am now using the initial Javascript feature, thank you David.

Now the SQL driven combo is still a mystery. Are you saying it should run on form open by design? If it is, it is missing some of it's inputs. The SQL driven combo uses the values of a couple nearby textboxes as criteria in its select statement. Is it possible that it is not grabbing those values on form open because they are still loading in the form when the sql runs?

If so, is there a token I could use that I could pass to the SQL to represent the DNN Core field directly instead of the name of the textbox that is linked to the core field?

Hi. I believe because of SQL Injection our modules don't use the textbox $(ShortFieldNames) directly in the SQL Options.

To do what you are wanting I would...
    1. Create a hidden field for the token you are wanting to use in the SQL Options. Make sure the sort order is BEFORE the SQL Options dropdownlist field
    2. Under advanced field options choose 'DotNetNuke User Default' and select the DNN Core profile field there.
    3. If you are using multiple fields/tokens I would isolate the issue to just one at a time. Hard code all of the variables and then replace them with the tokens. I believe hidden fields are referenced via SQL Options, just not textbox fields for risks of SQL Injection.

    Thanks,

    Chad

Well, intial SQL binding works if you pass along querystring variables (DSParam1,DSParam2,DSParam3) and use them in your SQL where clause. However, it cannot be dynamically generated by referencing textbox fields on the form though. -- David
