I am running multiple portals with basically the same registration for on all of them.  The form is pretty long and was kind of a pain to create in the first place...

Does anyone know of an easy way to recreate the form on different portals?  I wish there was like a "copy" option within the admin, that displays all of the know questions and allows you to select it or something...

If there isn't I will just create a script that does it, but was just wondering if anyone else had something.

    Thanks!

    Gary

    Gary,

We can wait and see if anyone else posts any suggestions but you should be able to use the IPORTABLE import/export solution. Since I think you have to initially export for it the first item on a new portal before you see the import option I would suggest exporting your registration form, running the export one time on your new portal registration form, and then copying over that file from the first exported file that is generated on your initial/completed registration form.

Additionally if I get some time this week ill work on getting together a SQL script that can do what you need.

Thanks Chad, I will try that.

I already took care of the SQL script.  I can send it to you would like.

The only thing is, is that you have to take the "responses" from the host account in order or them to show up in a "update profile form" on the new portal.

I think you might want to consider changing the response table a little.

Instead of storing the response that connects to the core DNN fields, just store the "LINK_" value in it instead.

So if the question is linked to the core field first name then the value would not be store in your table, just the "LINK_FirstName" would be the value and the value would be stored in the core tables only.

And if it is not linked to a core field, then just store the value.

It might make things a little cleaner...

Follow me?  I can explain a little more if you would like?

    Thanks!

    Gary

    Gary,

I see what you are saying here with the Linked fields but to be honest if we wanted to do it that way we would just ignore any response from the table and go off of the core fields completely for if the dynamic field was linked to the core field. I will bring this up at our next review meeting here.

Also, we currently have V2.3 beta ready and it should be released by the middle of next month with some really great enhancements. Additionally Interactive User Import will be available next month as well and allow you to import users into DotNetNuke and also Dynamic Registration as well as fire off events during the import process such as adding the user to a role based on a particular response to a field, or sending out an email to the user, executing a SQL query etc... Since it uses a scheduler process you can import thousands of users without any significant performance impact. We have actually imported a test file of 30,000 users without any problems.

Can you share the script you used to copy the form?
