Hi
I am sending out a newsletter using opt in v 4.10.60
When I send a copy of every email is being sent to me as well - any ideas why this might be ?
DNN version 05.04.02
The list is 10000 + and I can't have that many emails sent in to me !!
Thank you
Vicky |

Hi Vicky,
Do you happen to be in Test Mode under Module Configuration, Newsletter Schedule Settings? I know that in previous versions, a test mode had everything going to the test email address. This has been changed in the current verson to only send one or two to the test email.
Instead of being in test mode, I prefer to to create a Test List of 3 or 4 'subscribers' and use this to test my email before sending it to the big list.

Hi
This is turning into a bit of a nightmare - I have uninstalled and now installed v4.3 but the problem is still there
I am having to send out an email today to 10000 people and each email is copied to the from address !!!!
I need to resolve this problem before the next mailing is due to go out - any suggestions ?
Thank you
Vicky |

Hi Vicky - That is very odd... Can you tell me if you have test mode enabled for the scheduler and/or if you have a test email listed? I am not really sure there is even a feature (except for test mode) that would cause this. -Chad |

Hi Vicky,
I know you already said you're not in test mode so let me ask you a few other questions:
1. Are you doing a test with a test list? How many "subscribers" do you have in your test list?
2. Can you confirm that the test subscribers have unique email addresses? Are they going to different domains? Here's my thought: over at Data springs, any 'invalid' email address with the @datasprings.com domain goes to a specific mailbox that gets forwarded to some of us. Could you have the same situation where your test emails are test1@yourdomain.com and test2@yourdomain.com but all these fake emails are actually getting dumped to your live email address?
Thanks!
Candace

OK, just wanted to update on this one.
After trying several test sets which all copied (up to 200) emails to the sender mailbox we couldn't wait any longer to send the full email.
This was sent (10900) and for some reason the copying stopped !! (Phew)
I don't know if the issue was the module, DNN itself or my bulk email server but no settings were changed between sending mails.
Really odd - very glad its stopped - just hoping it doesn't start again !!!
Thanks for the help |

OK, another update Just sent another 900 emails via the system - this time they were copied ! So, what was the difference ? I think that if I choose schedule immediately I don't get a copy If I choose send immediatetly I do get copies Would that make sense ? |

Hi vicky I'm glad that you posted this issue because I have made a similar posts a few weeks ago on this forum on the same thing. I have spent hours testing this and drove us crazy. We still haven't found the answer. It has something to do with "scheduled immediately" vs "Send immediately". We got around this problem by going to the Advanced setting and changing the send method to "BCC" and not "One email" (we don't send personalized emails). The problem, we found later, with using that Send Method (BCC) is that the schedule immediately doesn't work. It doesn't put the job in the queue. This only works with "send immediately" |

Hi. The email functions have changed slightly between the different versions of Opt In Email (this caused another bug related to email servers with SSL)... You fix one bug and sometimes it can cause another I have this on my list to review and duplicate but to be honest with you we are really reviewing the possibility of only offering 'Schedule Now' instead of 'Send Now'. The functions to generate the emails and process the emails have to be maintained in two separate areas because of how the scheduler works (stateless environment independent of the portal etc...). I guess the main benefit to having the 'Schedule Now' feature is that it really should kick off right away and send it right away... So we might not keep the 'Send Now' as an option for the next version. -Chad |

hi Chad, i'm using DNN 5.5.1, and installing Opt In 4.3 , 1. any idea why the current OptIn version is 4.2.0.24570 ? 2. i can't send any newsletter, it is always said total sent = 0, in fact, the dynamicforms is working fine, means something wrong in the module, what should we do ? Thanks.

Hello Yonathan,
I'm sorry for the tardy response in the forums on this thread.
Can you please let me know if this has been resolved yet or if it hasn't?
Thanks,
Ryan
