This tool is great, but it would be nice if I could add the email/Newsletter lists to the "regular" dnn account registration process - is that possible without purchase any additional modules?

Some other thoughts are presented below:

Existing opt-in list (e.g. Mail chimp)

Perfect scenario would be that we could import these and dynamically create DNN user accounts for them as well as add them to n number of opt-in lists. If that would be possible, we would then send out emails to all the newly created accounts and provide some type of verification link requiring a password change (their username could be their email address). One scenario would be to import using email as username and email+[STRING] as password?

Register user at opt-in Sign up

Another scenario is if we can more tightly integrate the 2 (Opt-in and DNN account) so that when you sign up for a list/Newsletter you are truly signing up for a DNN account (as well as the list). This probably requires requesting a password or just asking for a password the first time the user tries to login with their username?

    Thoughts anyone?

    Hi Daviking,

Opt In email allows you import lists.  However, if you want accounts created, Interactive User Import would be a better fit for you.  This will allow you to import a list, set up usernames and passwords and send out emails.

Dynamic Registration offers a built-in integration with Opt In Email.  You will need to use checkboxes to sign up for newsletters then go to Module Configuration, Opt In Settings/Integration.  If you go through the setup wizard, ou can make a very simple registration with basic fields so it mimics an Opt In signup look and feel.

You might consider getting the Collection 3.0 so you get all these modules at a very good package price instead of purchasing modules individually.

Please let us know if you have other questions. Thanks!

Ok, got it so here is a follow up questions (months ago...):

In the registration process I want to use the email address as the sign in "username", possible?

    Registration:
    a) Fname, Lname, Email Address, and password, + Some Opt in Categories.
    b) require validation
    c) once validated we would require some more inforamtion, but the only required fields would be Displayname (Default ?), EMail Address - populated with the username I guess...

I assume that one way to do this is to (in the registration) map the email address field to the Username.
The issue here is what happens when the user goes in and changes their email address, the username is not updated so the user's login will fail...
