    Hello,

I have tried several times to insert the tracking image but I continue to get a red x which tells me that the system isn't finding my image.  It also isn't tracking the image and I continue to get counts of 0.  Please help.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi Debbie,

Let me ask a few questions.

    1. Do other images appear?
    2. Does the Opt Out Link work? The module references the main Opt In Email module so if that page isn’t visible then it won’t work .
    3. Is the tracking image specified as JPG? I believe the module requires a JPG image for tracking.
    4. Are you running a 3rd party URL module such as URL Master?

The real way to test this is to click ‘View Source’ from the email received and see the full URL that is being created for the tracking image. What does that URL look like? When you copy/paste that URL in your browser what happens?

    Thanks!
    Candace

I Had this problem also. However I was able to fix it by re-assigning the tracking image in the control panel.

For some reason it didn't "take" the first time I set it.

I hope it's OK to tack on to this old thread ...

I too am having a problem with the tracking image and the opt-out link as well. They used to work but I just noticed they are not working any more. I'm not sure when/why they stopped working.

    to answer your questions:
    1. Other images do not appear
    2. The Opt Out link does not work
    3. The tracking image is a GIF not a JPG ... but like I said, it used to work
    4. I am not using a 3rd party URL module

When I looked at the source of the image, I noticed the portal alias was part of the URL. Copy I copy paste the URL in a browser it doesn't work. If I remove the portal alias then it does work.

Doesn't work (goes to the home page): http://mytrooponline.org/gssrq/Default.aspx?TabID=97&ShowImage=True&OptInEmailID=56c9be44-0bf4-4393-8f4c-45bc073676c2&NewsletterID=beecbb5a-a76f-498e-8891-fffa20554305

    Works (shows the image): http://mytrooponline.org/Default.aspx?TabID=97&ShowImage=True&OptInEmailID=56c9be44-0bf4-4393-8f4c-45bc073676c2&NewsletterID=beecbb5a-a76f-498e-8891-fffa20554305

The difference is the one that works does not have the portal alias in the URL (gssrq).  I did recently add a new portal alias (gssrq).

I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions. Thanks!

Hi - I think that when this happens, what you have to do (anytime you have a domain like www.site.com/somethingelse) you need to go and choose "Alternate Portal Alias" setting under the control panel within the Advanced Newsletter module. Then for that you should enter an alias that is the root domain only. So... I would go and set this to be "http://mytrooponline.org"

    Thanks,

    -Chad

Thanks for the info. That resolved my problem!

You actually don't need the http://, I just set it to "mytrooponline.org" and the tracking image is now working properly.
