I have two date fields on my form that are hidden until forced visible by a question event... so they often will be left blank (and are not required fields even when visible).  If left blank, the field shows blank when I go to View Form Results.  However, on the PDF created by a form completion event, those fields show "Error saving date response".  Why?  I would like it to be blank on the PDF if no date was entered, so that it's clear that the field was empty.

Hi Cheryl .- I will have to research why this is happening, its possible that its trying to cast and verify its a date and since its blank its throwing the error but this is used in a few places so not sure yet where the actual error is.

My suggestion is to use a textbox for the date as you have more flexibility for regular expressions and actually even better date fields. Please check out the date field at http://www.datasprings.com/formdemos, I think specifically the jQuery date fields on demo 28 and see if that can at least provide you with a work around (probably better then a work around).

    Thanks,

    Chad

Thanks, Chad.  Please let me know what you find out about the error.  My client prefers the data field option (which I already use a regular expression to validate in case it is typed in instead) over a textbox ... and I would like to avoid the jQuery options if possible.  For now, at least, since I'm not familiar with it.

By the way, I also see a filepath in the PDF results even if a file wasn't attached to the form when submitted.  It is just the

/Portals/0/Dynamic-Forms_Uploads/ directory... but couldn't that also be blank in the results like they are under View Form Results, so that it wouldn't be misleading that something was submitted?

Has anything been figured out on why the date and file attachment fields show something even when they were left blank on submission?  Thanks!!

Cheryl - A couple of things....
    1. Yes there is one setting to define if you want to enable the full path and the file / image or just the image name. If you choose the full path and the image name and the image or file is blank then the full path will still be saved. This is a setting that you should be able to change/modify though.

    2. If a date is left blank we will need to research/modify the code for this. This was used because of some other issues date fields were having (almost as a debugging tool) but I don't think it should appear if its blank and we should update this in the next release.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Thanks for the update, Chad.

Did some testing with the date picker field and found that it only shows "error saving date response" in the PDF when that field is hidden until made visible by a question event.

I experimented with changing the file attachment option - to just the filename... which works well for when nothing is uploaded, but when something is, it appended http:// in front of the filename, which of course made the hyperlink not work.  (Never mind - realized it was the difference in tokens being used... sorry about that!)
