Hello Simia,
I believe the '?' symbol is coming up because of the unknown characters being used from the Arabic language. So when exporting to excel, excel doesn't know how to convert the character.
Just as a question, what DNN version along with the Dynamic Forms version are you using??
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Ryan |

Hi. I saw that you emailed us as well and duplicated this on Beta Springs. Please give us a couple of days to test this and hopefully we can have a patch out in the next patch or release. For future reference can you also post here what some of the characters are that are having problems? -Chad |

Hi Simia - Actually I think we figured this out... Can you: 1. Save the file that is exported (don't immediately open it in Excel) 2. Open a new export file, choose import from CSV 3. Open the file you save.. -Chad |

Hi. Yes, well what happens is that although I think the encoding is ok its opening it up thinking its really XLS (because we save it as that type). So if you: 1. Save the file 2. Rename the file as .csv instead of .xls 3. Click Import from Text file within Excel Do the characters show them up? -Chad |

Just wanted to update this thread and another related to XLS export and CSV export in Dynamic Forms 3.4 release. Basically here is what happened: 1. We use to render the file with code where we could had our own ‘Header’ to the file letting Excel know to open it as a text file 2. We saved it as XLS and it never really was a problem because of #1 above 3. The solution above wouldn’t work if the site used SSL 4. We modified the solution to just pull the file directly by itself off of the server instead of streaming it… that’s apparently what is causing the problem. So we fixed the bug for users with SSL but it caused another bug. This wasn’t fixed until 3.3 or 3.4 which is why this problem came about after your upgrade. Thanks, Chad

For anyone having performance or timeout issues with Dynamic Forms and exporting to Excel please execute this query. We are including this in the next update/release. CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX IX_DynamicForms_QuestionResponse ON dbo.DynamicForms_QuestionResponse(DynamicQuestionID, UniqueResponseID ) Thanks, Chad
