    Hi -  I am trying to do some initial binding by using a session variable passed from another form and it doesnt seem to be working. Is there a trick to it that I am missing.

    I have the field 'PatientID' being saved to session sucessfully. I know this because if I set the next page to retrieve that value it does just fine.

    my query is 
    where patientid = $(PatientID)  
    I have tried with and without 'quotes' and nothing returned. If put a real id in place of the token it comes back fine.

    I know I am missing something silly. From what I understand you need to do some stuff with DSParam1 if pulling from querystring but that doesnt have to be done with session I thought?

    Hello Daniel,

    In order to use Initial SQL Binding you will need to use the Token $(DSParam1), $(DSParam2) or $(DSParam3). 

    That is the reason this isn't working correctly for you. So you will need to add a hidden field with the short field name DSParam1. Now go to Module Configuration -> Custom JavaScript File and in the Initial JavaScript text area box place this:

    $(DSParam1) = $(PatientID)

    Then go to your Initial SQL Binding section and use the same query but with the exception of:

    where PatientID = '$(DSParam1)'

    Please try this approach and let me know how this works for you.
