Does Question Events support Date controls as the question firing the event? Regardless of whether I check the Execute Event for any Response field or not, the event never fires. And if I uncheck Execute Event for any Response it doesn't allow me to enter a date.
Thanks, Sharon

Hello Sharon,
This field type is tied into JavaScript/jQuery and it's possible that this is a conflict. I haven't tried to build a question event based on a date before, but if the date control/calendar date control isn't working I would recommend using a text box and that way you can run a question event against it.
Are you trying to fire an event based on a range of dates or how are you going about this?
Thanks,
Ryan

Basically we're creating a customized version of Dynamic Forms for our users to build forms with. Since the forms may have fields such as Date of Birth on them we need to determine whether it is feasible to expect dates to work for this function. I expect that some of our clients will want to create an event <,>,= a certain date but if it doesn't even support date controls I will need to descope date fields for now. Sharon |

Hello Sharon,
Unfortunately you can't have question events based off of a date control.
The only work around would be by using serious JavaScript and SQL.
Possibly you can have a hidden field on the form that pulls from the table in which all of the date of births from existing users are stored. But this will have to be stored as a Comma Separated Value list constrained by the userID.
Then use this list and load an array with all of the values and use a loop to go through all of the birth dates and if one exists for the user filling out the form or however you're going to do this.
Then you could compare a birth date to the date the user selects.
Is this going to be a calendar with birth dates included in the visual calendar or is this going to be a different functionality?
I haven't been given enough details to determine what you're exactly doing with the birth date field.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Ryan

Thanks Ryan, I really just wanted to know if it was supported or whether we were doing something wrong. You've answered the question. Sharon |
