    Hi Chad & Datasprings.

Just purchased Dynamic Registration & the Opt in email modules, they are excellent!

Question that I have not figured out yet:

Q: I want to add a drop down from which COUNTRY my visitors are from. How do I add this from the DNN core and tie it together with a Dynamic Registration Field?

    Thanks...

Hi. You would want to do this using the SQL Options.

Step 1: Create a new Dynamic Field called Region, make the field a dropdownlist field and choose the standard defaults for the field.
    Step 2: Save Field
Step 3: Reopen field and choose SQL Options instead of entering them all in
Step 4: Review the SQL statement example that is given, it should be this:

select Text as QuestionOption, Text as QuestionOptionValue from Lists where ListName= 'Region'

Step 5: Save the field again
Step 6: Navigate to the DNN Core Integration area, and under optional fields specify your region field to represent the DotNetNuke Region field.

    Hope this helps!

I think the SQL should be like this for country:

select Text as QuestionOption, Text as QuestionOptionValue from Lists where ListName= 'Country'

If you use Region it will return States etc.

Question:  How can I use the ComboBox to show the list of Country and Regions?  That way it only takes up one line on screen.

This is good, but how to I set the default to the United States? I tried entering United States in the Default field; that didn't work.

    Thanks.

Here is an idea for you

select Text, 'a' as ord from lists where listname = 'Country' AND right(text,6) LIKE '%States'
    Union
select Text, 'b' as ord from lists where listname = 'Country' AND right(text,6) NOT LIKE '%States' order by ord

Actually, i got that to work with out-of-the-box Dynamic Registration functionality. I didn't explain well. I am getting State and Country from a Session variable and I want State and Country to default to the one provided in the session variable unless there isn't one. But if it's not the right State or Country (or Province or Region) then I want the user to select the correct one from the list of Region and Country. Can you solve this one? LOL

Hmm I would stay away from session variables if possible but I guess that not the case here.

I could think of a way if we could write a sproc and pass the session variable to it...

I would love to know how to get the default country listed as United State. Any help would be appreciated.

I removed all of the countries other than Canada and United states, then used the query

select Text as QuestionOption, Text as QuestionOptionValue from Lists where ListName= 'Country' order by QuestionOptionValue DESC

You _could_ have modified the List table contents to use a Sort Order, then set the Order By clause to use the Sort Order column
