Greetings all. I would like to be able to call from the dbo.links and dbo.files tables. I would like to be able to pass along a list of links to files after user enters criteria in a DynamicForm. I'm using DNN 5.1.2 live site. Also installed is DataSprings package including DynamicForms 3.10.0. I would like users to be able to enter form fields to limit the number of matched files. The user should be able to pick a file (PDF) to view/download or both. I don't want to be forced to create a Links module for each of nearly 200 users, as each set of files needs to be kept private. The narrowed list will be based on Username and a couple other fields via DynamicForms. I believe a bulk upload using a .zip file containing many .pdf's will get the data into the files table. I then could hand edit (copy paste) column data from a spread sheet to the links table. I believe this will give me all the data I need to make a link.... I just don't want to have to mouse click my way through hundreds of link creations. Any and all help is appreciated.

Perhaps I can simplify my question.

How can I create url(redirect) dynamically?

I would simply like to be able to link to a pdf on the system located at http://mydomain/Portal/0/File-Dir/some.pdf

I was hoping to simply pass a ShortField name and append it to the redirect url.  Unfortunately the URL redirect field does not accept tokens from the form like

    http://mydomain/Portal/0/File-Dir/$...FieldName)

It seems with DynamicForms the $(ShortFieldName) or $(DSParam1) is only usable inside a sql.

I don't know how to create a redirect via sql.

    Does anyone have a solution/workaround?

    Hello Eric,

Dynamic Forms 3.4 allows tokens to be included into redirection events. Perhaps upgrading will give you the feature you need.

If you have any questions please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Please, I'd like to clarify/verify.

I can use the global tokens such as

    http://[Portal:url][Portal:HomeDirectory]

I'm not sure if Token is the correct word, or if the above is a global Token and I need to use "Session Token" ie: short field name.

Will Version 3.4 allow me to pass short field name contents inside the URL redirect field of CompletionEvent?  Can anyone Verify this?

Thank You so much for the reply.

    Hello Eric,

Yes Dynamic Forms 3.4 has the ability to include short field name tokens / user defined question tokens in the Redirection events.

So if I had a Dynamic Form instance on a page with a question called First Name with a short field name of FirstName. Then I can use a redirection event like so:

    http://www.yoursite.com?FirstName=$(FirstName)

If I inserted "Ryan" and fired the Redirection event then the URL will look like so when the token is rendered:

    http://www.yoursite.com?FirstName=Ryan

If you have any questions please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Ryan,

Thank you for taking the time.

Yes, DynamicForms v3.4 allows me to use the user defined tokens in the url/redirect field.

I am still struggling on the allowed criteria for using the tokens.

Do you know where I may find a rule set for where/when I can use the tokens?

I can't find rhyme or reason why some dynamic questions can be tokenized and others can't.

Is there any correlation on the field content?  It seems that hidden fields with the default value derived from a sql work, when fields with static data can't be tokenized.

    Thanks again.

I think I have narrowed down my $(token) issue.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or what.  It seems when using $(Token) in a SQL statement the above format works only if the field is a number string.  If the token contents are characters the SQL statement will need single quotes around the token.

    example: ShortField = MyToken

If MyToken = TextBox containing "12345" I can use token as follows.

SELECT text as QuestionOption, text as QuestionOptionValue WHERE column= $(MyToken)

But if the TextBox contains "hello" , then I must write

SELECT text as QuestionOption, text as QuestionOptionValue Where column= '$(MyToken)'

    Is this default behavior?

    Thanks,

    Eric
