    Hi Guys,

    DR 4.4.43 DNN 5.4.4

    I am trying to implement a change password form with 4 fields all linked to the relevant DNN core fields.

    - username (read only)
    - existing password (field name ExistingPW)
    - new password
    - confirm password

    I can change user passwords fine when using valid existing and new password details however when I enter an incorrect "existing password" in the field the registration update goes through fine with no error however the password is NOT changed?

    I have checked the Force existing password in the module config.

    How do I get an error message to show up when the user incorrectly enters their existing password?

    aspnet membership provider included below also

    AspNetSqlMembershipProvider
    type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider"
    maxInvalidPasswordAttempts="5"
    connectionStringName="SiteSqlServer"
    enablePasswordRetrieval="false"
    enablePasswordReset="true"
    requiresQuestionAndAnswer="true"
    minRequiredPasswordLength="6" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="0"
    requiresUniqueEmail="false"
    passwordFormat="Encrypted"
    applicationName="DotNetNuke"

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Hi Pete,

    We have discovered this in the last week and are working on a patch (actually just tested the patch yesterday)... So we are hoping to release the patch which should be 04.10.70 and as far as I know should be the last patch we release of Dynamic Registration until the upcoming 4.2 release that will have some great new features . I would check the patches and hot fixes on Snowcovered in the next week or open a support ticket and I can get you a copy of the patch sooner (please reference this thread).

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Hi Chad,

    since update to DNN 6.x i have the same problem as described. The user can´t change their password with DR. Error message:
    "You must provide your current password in order to change the password." or "Error getting password!... Object reference not set to an instance of an object. "
    A look at snowcovered show me, no patch out now?

    Hi everyone,

    The Dynamic Registration 4.1.70 patch has been posted. Please log into your Snowcovered account and download it from Patches and Hotfixes (or in MyDownloads if you own the Collection 4.0 and the User Management Suite 2.0). This is already in the Collection 5.0.

    Thanks!

    Candice,

    Is there any documentation available on how to set up the Existing password field after the hotfix is applied?  I've tried it with field named oldPassword but still sends message about current password: "You must provide your current password in order to change the password."

    This is after the 4.1.70 patch application.

    Thanks,
    Terryb

    Scratch That, the field is ExistingPW

    Hi Terry,

    I just responded to your email but I"m posting my response here, too:

    From the Control Panel, please go to Module Configuration > Validation Configuration. From here, please check the ‘Force Existing Password for changing passwords.’

    Let us know if you have additional questions. Thanks!

    Candace
