OK, I've read demo 17 for the paypal and free account and using the EnablePGateway option to NOT go to PayPal if we want to register for a free account.  This does work, and PayPal is bypassed, but the issue is I seem to be having is that the completion events, that were working before I enabled the payment gateway, for the free registration account are no longer working.  Depending upon either the paid or free account, I had completion events that put users into specific roles.  This is no longer happening for the free role.  Does the PayPal gateway IPN link with the event take over everything?  Maybe it's an order thing?  What about the default "Redirect Page After Registration:" option, this doesn't seem to be taking effect either.  Any ideas?

    THanks,

    Dan

    HI Dan,

If the completion event is based on the free user response, it should fire as normal. Be sure this event is not linked to any PayPal status. For the redirect, you will need to create a new event for the free response because the other one is linked to PayPal. It can point to the same page if you like. Please let us know if you have other questions. Thanks!

    Candace,

Sorry for the late response. I did get the 'free' account to work. It was an order issue of the events that I addressed. I do have another typical PayPal issue that I can't seem to fix after reading through your blog and recommendations. Of course, I along with many other users just can't seem to get the events to trigger after PayPal. Everything on PayPal goes through, I even can verify the test email accounts on the sandbox.

I've verified that each of the completion events hooked up to the paypal events do not have any fields that say 'Any Field Response'. I've verified all the completion event orders and everything is fine. I turned off the PayPal gateway and all events fire without any issues but I turn it back on, and I get nothing. Anything else I can check that is outside your normal suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi Dan,

The first thing I would check is the permissions on the page/module. It has be visible to all users so PayPal can talk back to the form.

You've already given me answers for my next questions so I'll skip to checking your PayPal account. Are you using the Sandbox? If you are, please check your test accounts. Are they all showing that the transactions have completed or is any of them pending?

Let me know what you find. Thanks!

Candace...thanks for getting back to me. The page does have access to ALL users can view this page. Not an issue there.

I am using the Sandbox. I have verified that all the transactions are going through and are completed. I am doing a trial subscription if that makes a difference.

The redirect page is working however. I've verified that order of that event as well to be AFTER the roles.

    Candace,

I also turned DEBUG on in the log viewer and here is the output.

Processing Event: - This event is linked to this TXN_TYPE - Redirect_SuccessPaypal
    Event Type: redirect
    Txn_type: RedirectSucess
    User Response:
    Event Response: BuySubscription
    Module ID:: 385
    Processing UserID: : 0
    Other UserID (PayPal): :
    Server Name: GENERIC120

Any other ideas?  This DOES work when I disable PayPal gateway.

    Hi Dan,

It doesn't look to me like you're getting any of the other IPNs from PayPal. I can take a quick look at your settings to see if I can spot the problem. Please use the Contact Us form and give me the following info:

    1. the URL to the DR page
    2. a HOST login, please
    3. the main login to your PayPal Sandbox account
    4. the password to your test buyer/personal account
    5. the password to your test seller/business account.
    6. your invoice ID

Also, please include the URL to this forum thread as a reference. Thanks!

Candace, thanks to your assistance I got this working. The solution....make sure I don't have the site password protected. I was securing the site so no one could actally visit right now since we're still in the development phase of our project. Apparently PayPal will not commute with a protected site.

    Thanks again.
