I just want to copy/paste my list of 30 drop list menu items and be done with it. The SQL option is out of the question. If anyone knows how to easily add a bunch of items to a drop list without having to click the Add button and typing each option I would appreciate it. |

Hello Sean,
Unfortunately there isn't a way to add multiple records to a combo box, the most efficient way in most cases, is to create a list under host -> Lists. Then you can use the SQL options by pulling in the values from your list. For example, if you added 30 records to a host list, then a simple query like this will pull in all of your values:
select Text As QuestionOption, Value As QuestionOptionValue from lists where listname = 'YourListName'
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Ryan

Yes... Or even add in some , after each line option you want and run an import into a database table via SQL Server. This way you can import the items and adding in a , after each line would only take a couple of minutes to do. Thanks, Chad

Well, I'm not one of the support guys, but I was reading this so..
If you don't wanna create a list or put the stuff in a table in the database (the latter being probably the best solution for your problem), what you should do is what I do when I'm lazy (this is a HORRIBLE solution, but in simple forms it will be very fast and easy to implement, that's why I use it when I'm lazy and I'm not changing the dropdownlist's values):
Open microsoft excel.
On the first column copy and paste the text below as it is: Select '
Leave the second column empty
On the third column put: ' as QuestionOption, '
Leave the fourth column empty
On the fifth column put: ' as QuestionOptionValue
then, on the *ROW* below the first column just put: UNION
Now just copy and paste/extend all that, and fill the empty spaces with your stuff. Once you are done, copy and paste it to notepad or frankly anywhere, and there you go. You have your easy-to-copy-and-paste dropdown options.
