*** DYNAMIC REGISTRATION DEBUG MODE ON ***
    Version:4.1.70.26806

    DNN 6.1.2

I'm building my first Dynamic Registration form and notice the Link for Disable Debug Mode. When I click the link, I get a page refresh, but the form stays in debug mode, showing recent SQL statement like:

    DotNetNuke Version: 6.1.2
SQL For OptionsSELECT 'X' as QuestionOptionValue, '-- Please Select --' as QuestionOption Union All SELECT [Value] as QuestionOptionValue ,[Text] as QuestionOption FROM [XXXXXX].[dbo].[dnn_Lists] where [ListName] = 'SRS-Group' Order by QuestionOption
    Initial Javascript:

Which stay visible even in View mode... and the link has not changed... Any Idea what is up with this?

    HI Patrick,

This might be a caching issue. Can you please clear your browser's cache/history and try it again? Thanks!

Nice thought Candace, but no, that is not it...

What next? Is this an inconsistency between the current version of Dynamic Registration and 6.1.2?

Hi Patrick / Candace - Recent versions of Dynamic Forms and Dynamic Registration have been updated so that the "Test Mode" that is a feature which can be enabled/disabled under the general settings within the control panel.

Well this feature used to be pretty much worthless because all it would do was not submit the form when you clicked submit... so test mode would basically just show you the form visually but disable saving the data. So, for the most part this feature was never used and was also confusing.

So... In recent versions we updated this so it would start taking the place of "Debug Mode" instead of "Test Mode" We did this especially in Dynamic Registration because otherwise there was no way to display debug mode for initial users who were registering since you were not signed in as an admin to enable debug mode.

So... My guess is that this feature is enabled in your site? We might need to still update the label if this is still showing as a test mode feature.

    Thanks,

    Chad

So, the answer is, to get the Dynamic Registration "Disable Debug Mode" link to work, one must turn off "Test Mode". When you do this, the function acts as one would expect, and the link will toggle back and forth between "Disable Debug Mode" and "Enable Debug Mode". If you check "Test Mode" debug mode is permanently on, and the "Disable Debug Mode" is not functional...

There is no "Test Mode" option in Dynamic Forms, but the "Enable Debug Mode" checkbox acts the same way (but at least the help tip tells you that if you check this box the "Disable/Enable" will not function. The "Test Mode" help tip in Dynamic Registration makes no mention of this). Does the "Enable Debug Mode" checkbox in Forms also not write data to the database (like the "Test Mode" checkbox)... I'm still confused as to what you are trying to accomplish.

Chad, in my book that is a bug. This is inconsistent and unintuitive. If you are going to remove the functionality of a link in certain situations, remove the link or gray it out.

Wish that both your modules followed the same rules... when is the update to Dynamic Registration going to be available?

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your feedback... I agree... In both of these modules at one point they both worked the same way (it was Test Mode). We modified the funtionality for both of our modules however because this was really part of the upcoming 4.2 release of Dynamic Registration we had not changed the field label yet. At one point recently, we had to release a patch of Dynamic Registration to support 6.1.2 of DNN and since the field label never changed it was inconsistent with how the feature worked. I guess this is the first time anyone has brought this to our attention as well which probably goes to show how often the test mode feature was enabled! Sorry for the confusion, I can see how this is frustrating.

    Thanks again for your feedback.

    Chad,

Appreciate the prompt reply. I would, however, prefer to be spending my time using your software, rather than on this forum asking why things don't work the way one would think...

I know how these kinds of things can happen... just hope they doesn't happen to me much more!

I agree! This is always difficult if you are running the newest version of DNN usually, mostly because we always have to play "Catch up" to that version and also try and keep the module working with previous versions for existing customers. In this case the latest version of DNN came out before our 4.1 release and that put us in a bind in support existing clients VS releasing the updates early. Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks again, and I am glad you are up and running! I saw your email earlier too so won't respond there but if you have any other issues please post another forum thread!
