Failed Distributions - show incorrect data

    The "failed Distributions" portion of the results Bar graph is incorrectly counting ALL of the emails, even though they are going out properly.

    Our client sends out to 7000 email addresses and regularly has about 2000 read and open the email, but their "Failed Distributions" is always almost as high as their sent amount, even though obviously people are receiving their emails.

    How to I fix this or turn this off?

    The DNN version is 5.06 and we are not putting a "reply- to email address" in the advanced section (advice given in other posts).

    The website is on one server, and their email is on an exchange server, but we are using an account on the Web server to as the SMTP connection (setting in host settings and in Opt In- Alternate settings).

    Is this issue caused by the fact that they are using exchange for their "real" email?

    Is there any advice on how to fix or remove this?

    Hi,

    Yes I can see how this is confusing... This has come up more recently because there were some emails failing and then users were seeing this for all results.

    So... the reason this is happening is because our failed email table does not filter results for a specific newsletter etc... Why? Well, for many emails the email ends up being in the FailedEmails table because the bounce back tool for checking the bounce backs within email has failed. When this bounce back control checks emails for bounce backs, it does not know what specific newsletter the email came from. So... What is happening here is that somehow these emails got into the system "at one time" and this probably happened because either the SMTP settings were not working (at one time) or because maybe there was an issue such as the Reply email address problem (also, at one time). So now that you have fixed/corrected that and you are still having an issue, you probably need to clear this table out.

    I would go into the "List Cleanup" area of Opt In Email Advanced Newsletter and I would clean out the entire list (don't remove any subscribers there obviously).
