I need to send an email (a form completion event) to a list of email adddresses that I can get from a SQL Query.

I need to format these as:

    address1, address2, address3 ... etc.

Is there a straightforward way to convert the list that comes from the SQL query into the delimited list of addresses that I need?

    Hi, fellow user.

I am not going to hazard to design the SQL for this, but my approach would be to create a HIDDEN TYPE field where I populated the addresses using the Default Value. There, you can choose to populate the value of that field using an SQL query (so long as the data is in the same DB as the portal - the software is a bit persnickety as to what SQL it will allow to protect against injection attacks ).

The RECOMMENDED way (disclaimer here) is to make the process a Stored Procedure and call it from the SQL Default Value field. Don't know how to do that (neither create Stored Procedures nor how to call them. I would get my buddy Vlad to do that part ;-)

Then, your addresses can be pulled into the Completion Event email field just by referencing the $(EmailField) in the TO: field.

I don't know of a way to do the SQL from inside the Email event.

BTW I have had spotty success with emailing large groups from within the portal. Over 10 or so, and I find emails get dropped - but try it! It it were me, I would set up my mailing some other way, using a "group" in a blind mailbox - so a single email to that blind box would resend the email to the list.

    Hope this helps some...

    David
