    1) First, I would second the other post that mentions that this forum loses posts.  This has happened before and just occurred moments ago with this post.  I had the post typed up, hit preview, then hit submit.  The post is gone.

    2) As to my question, I'm trying to create a textbox that spans columns (tried to attach an image, but this doesn't seem to work either).  The layout should be something like this:

                    Name: [    ]            Title: [     ]
         Organization: [    ]        Phone: [     ]
                Address:  [                                 ]

In this poor mockup, the Address field should have a longer textbox since the address is likely longer.  I'm trying to reproduce an existing form so was trying to match the layout.  I know I could do this differently, but curious if the row and column settings support this without mucking around in css.

I looked through the Demonstrations on this site and don't see this style of form anywhere, so perhaps this is not supported.

    Thanks for any advice,

    Erik

    Hi Erik,

    1.  Sorry for the trouble about losing posts.  We've been hearing about it but haven't isolated it.  Can you tell us if you lose post when you hit preview but not if just hit submit?

    2.  Yes, this can be done.  Just edit the address field and go to Look and Feel.  From here, increase the field width and switch the column span to something like 5 or 10.

    Thanks!
    Candace

    Hi Candace,

Yes, this is what I've been trying. If I increase the column span then the textbox appears far to the right. I have four columns already (in the Name, Name box, Title, Title box). If I set it to two column, then the field is two columns wide and the Address box is even with the Title.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi Roel,

I missed one tip in my response back in March. The fields must be set to "label and field in one column" and then set the column span to 5 or 10 and you should get the right effect.

    Thanks!

    Roel,

Yes, I never did make this work exactly as I wanted. As Candace says, if you set the label and field to appear in one column it works okay. I don't think Data Springs supports what I was looking for originally, that is to have the Address text box span multiple columns but the Address label only in the first column.

    Hi guys,

Yes. At this time, in order to "Span" across multiple columns you do have to use the field/label in the same column. This is because the setting that the colspan is executed against is only setup for that first/initial column that the label is added into. We might later decide to add another setting that can assist with spanning that 2nd/additional column that the field is usually placed in but this can also create a lot of confusion so we have not added this into the code yet. We are always looking and reviewing additional ways of doing this though and welcome your suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Chad
