    Hi there,

I've so very new to DNN and coding for that matter.  Here is what I need to understand how to make happen on a dynamic form.

I created a form for User Access Requests, a manager for a department will fill-out the initial request (they will only see the items that they need to complete as the approval and verifications fields are hidden from their view).  Once they fill this out and click submit an email goes out to IT/HR alerting us a form has been completed.

What needs to happen at this point is HR needs to approve the rights that were chosen for the selected user access, they need to access this completed form and fill in their approval and verification date. HR also can not edit the fields that were completed previously in the request for auditing purposes.  Once HR is done with their part it needs to be fulfilled by IT granting the rights and signing off on the document also and the last part of the workflow is the IT director signing off that the work is completed on that same document.

What would be an easy way for me to accomplish this.  We just upgraded to the latest version yesterday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated to get me going on this project.

    Thanks!!
    Heather

Hi Heather - I know I responded to you via Email as well but I thought I would respond here in case this helps other customers.
    ---------------------------------------

Thanks for your email… I know that Dynamic Forms can handle these requirements however unfortunately I am not sure how "Easy" we can make this.

    A couple of questions:
    1. Do these different users (HR, IT, and so forth) have user roles that related to their positions? Will these users be signed in?
    2. Do you also have modules such as Tailored Text/HTML?
You could handle this a number of different ways but this could include:
    1. Updating multiple instances of Dynamic Forms but passing along the same key value and using the same flat table… Sometimes we would do this buy using multiple forms along the "Submission/Workflow" process but then updating the same flat table with some BIT/INTEGER columns that represent when users have responded. For example "ApprovedByHR", "ApprovedByIT" etc…
    2. You could possibly utilize a single form instance and show/hide fields based on the field passed along the query string, so that certain fields were either returned as "Labels" or as "Read-Only" etc…
    3. You could possibly utilize Tailored Text/HTML to return specific field values as field labels within that query and Dynamic Forms under it to actually render the specific fields for the form etc…

So there are really a number of different ways to handle this… Depending on the first two questions I can probably lead you in the right direction. If you would be interested in having our team directly work with you on your project we also offer Premium Integration/Services. You can find out more information at http://www.datasprings.com/PremiumSupport.

    Thanks!

    -Chad
