    HI

    Completion events not firing.

    Ver:4.0.11.16442 / 6.1.2

Ok - Simple PayPal purchase - same issues with sandbox and real account.

For fail and success I have two CE's, a redirect and an email.

These are linked to Redirect After Cancel & Completed (Standard)

Cancel on PayPal - redirect works - email does not.

Complete transaction - fails - redirects to the form page and displays a save / submit later control.

I must be missing something but I cannot seem to get this to work.

    Question: On the CE page.
There are ghosted controls for Fire event on & Event Details: These vanish when a new / existing CE is selected.  Relevant? - what are they for?

Question: On the PayPal setup area..
    PayPal Last Status:
"Select the field you would like to represent the status field from the last PayPal IPN or status".

How do the few fields listed here relate to the CE;s connected to the PayPal IPN choice boxes?

I notice from older posts on this subject that you advise geeting Paypal IPN info from the dnn events viewer. I suppose that this is old info and that now we have to use the debug option?

If I turn on debug the PayPal submit process fails so I am unsure how it helps.

I am now quite unsure of how to fix / sort out this out.

    Thanks

    Ian

    To follow up on this:
I have just read in another post that some sorts of PayPal responses can only be linked to some sorts of CE's such as redirects.

Anyway I now have my success CE's working so I guess the remaining fail email CE will reveal its secrets soon.

No need to answer this post now.

AFAIK: This information is NOT in the manual?

    Actually I am still stuck.

Redirect events work - email events do not.

So many hours on this now . . .

    Hi Ian,

Let me ask you a few questions:

    1. Do the email events work when PayPal is disabled?

    2. If yes, then please check out this blog. Most issues are resolved by the tips in this blog.

    http://www.datasprings.com/news/blo...ter-paypal

Let us know if you have other questions. Thanks!

    HI Candace

Yes - have read and checked points in the post.
Yes email events work when payapal is disabled.
    SMPT is fine.
    CE's set to any response.

Tested with page visible and where it needs to be - behind a password - although this may not be possible from what I have read - same problem.

Happy to provide a host access if it helps.

Let me ask you a few more questions first:

    1. Are you using the PayPal Sandbox or a live account?

    2. If using the Sandbox, can you please check if both the transaction went through for both the test seller and the test buyer accounts?

    3. From Admin, Event Viewer, make sure that Debug Info is enabled (you need to be logged in as Host to do this). If/ Once enabled, do you see the activities logged after a transaction is completed?

    Thanks!

    HI Candace

Using the sandbox but have also tested on the real account.

In the accounts sandbox area. I can see the emails PayPal would have sent conforming payment received.
In the sandbox test site: I can see all the test transactions - all are marked as Completed.
If I drill down into a transaction there is a bar containing the details headed
"OK to complete the transaction - Payment Status: Completed".

Re Debug. If I switch this on I can no longer go to Paypal as the button stops working.

    Debug then displays:

Well no answer from my previous post so to fillow up / bump:

OK - I am now seriously stuck with this.

CE's that redirect work. CE's that send emails associated with the redirects do not.
All CE's work when PayPal is Off. I have tried multiple combinations of settings for the email CE triggers and none work.

I have worked though your suggestions and some other information found on similar forum threads and can find no issues. (Most more than once!)
Using debug disables the submit function !
    No errors get logged?

I have 4 copies of Forms inc one as part of the collection.
On another site I have a PayPal form made from the same version as the one that is failing in this post.
On it the CE's do not even show up in the PayPal area so I am not at all confident in this module and at this point think I have made a bad decision buying it.

I also now have a customer who finds it strange that it is taking me days to do something that should take a few hours so my next stop after posting this is to SC to look for alternatives.

Hopefully you will have some further insight as I am out of ideas.

    Thanks

    Ian

BTW: I have had the failures with the form on a public and private page.
I have seen some posts saying that a PayPal form has to be on a public page - hopefully this is not the case.

    Hi Ian,

Yes, the page needs to be visible to ALL users so that PayPal can talk back to it without a login. That is the most common culprit so this is the first tip we give on the blog. Can you confirm that the problem occurs for you on BOTH a public and private pages?

If you set the page to be visible to all users and the problem continues, I'm happy to look into it for you. Please use the Contact form and give me the following:

    1. the URL to your DF page
    2. a host login
    3. the URL to this forum thread for reference
    4. your invoice number
    5. your main sandbox account login
    6. your sandbox personal (buyer) account login
    7. your sandbox business (seller) account login

I'll watch out for your response here or for a Contact Us form from you. Thanks!

    HI Candace

Yes - emails fail with either public / private.

Actually If I cannot have such a page behind a password how is this supposed to work for any private use.  I have an entire e-comm sys working with PayPal behind a password?

Anyway I will accept your kind offer and get the info you need together and into a contact form in the next 30 mins.

    Thank you
