Testing out latest version of DL facebook integation. All seems to working in terms of the user being created and the user can log in etc. However, the user first and last names are not being populated in the profile.
I am using the facebook userid as user name. I read through all of the blog entries etc and believe I have the module configured correctly.
At some point I will use silent post to use my DR registration form but for now I am trying to get the basics working.
Thoughts?
Thanks for the help!

Still having problems with facebook integration. Just upgraded to DNN 6.2.4 had same problem on 6.0.1. The user gets created but without the first and last name. Searched the forums and blogs for solution - nothing that I can find. Help

FYI - I received a response from Chad earlier this week and Chad confirmed that on this website there are records without first and last name. To confirm this, I created a new account here on data springs using facebook and when I checked my profile, the first and last name were blank. I logged in multiple times to see if subsequent logins would populate the fields but it hasn't. |

Well what has been weird to me was to discover (even in our own database) that some users will pull in the first/last name and some users will not. From what I could tell it looks like this is not related to a specific date/time that they registered too (not like all of a sudden it stopped saving first and last name, its seems erratic. So... My assumption as this point is one of two things... 1. Is it possible this is saving the users information AFTER the first sign in, meaning that they have to sign in again before it is saving their first and last name properly? 2. Is it possible that this is per user and their specific settings. Like, maybe users have specific security settings enabled within your account that do not share some of this information? Thanks, Chad

Hi Chad
I have confirmed that it is not pulling the info after the first login and the first name last name is not in the database.
What are you finding in your own database?
Please let me know what you think.

As you can see from Chads response that they know there is a problem but as of yet no solution has been provided which is frustrating. I still get a ton of registrations with no first or last names. Maybe your inquiry will inspire Data Springs to fix the problem....

In response to your 2nd point. These are new users being registered with facebook. We default out privacy not to expose first and last name but that should not matter on new users being created, right?
Any idea what is going on. What about on your site? Been struggling with this for months.

Hey, this might not be related, but then again just might. One of my sites stopped recording the first and last names and that site did NOT have the Facebook integration. When I went and looked at the registration page, the two fields were missing from the form entirely. I fiddled for a while but got the missing fields back after checking the box in Site Settings - User Account Settings- Registration Form Type - Custom and updated. Then returned to the same place and chose "Standard". This or a variation of this might be helpful to you guys. Maybe. |

That's good observation, Mark. Would you please tell us your exact module version and your DNN version? Thanks! Candace

Sorry, I should have mentioned. This site is not using the dynamic login module either. Just the standard DNN module. DNN version 7.1.0. I know it is a stretch to think it would influence the Dynamic Login module too, but I've seen stranger things happen. |
