BCC not working at all

    I am running version 4.40.10 on DNN 6.1.5.  Every time I choose the "BCC" option to send a newsletter, nothing happens.  I try to send it immediately, schedule it for later, sync, async, a combination of these features and nothing works.

    We are not sending personalized messages.  We need these to go out as quickly as possible to the most recipients as possible without causing a backlog in DNN or the email server.

    Does anyone know what could be the issue here?

    Hi Joe,

    Let me ask you a few questions.

    1. Do your test emails go out without the BCC? (If they don't, it could be another issue)

    2. If it's an issue with the BCC, I can try to duplicate here and send it up through the process of bug reporting. However, I wonder if you really need the BCC, especially if you have a big email list, because you'll end up receiving a copy of each email sent.

    What I would recommend is to add yourself in your mailing list so you can receive a copy of what is being sent out to everyone else. Would this work for you?

    The issue I am having is with the send method called "BCC (One email to blind distribution list)" in the Advanced Settings of the Advanced EMail module (just about the Finish link).

    I can send newsletters if I pick the "One message per email address" but with such a large list of email addresses and multiple lists, I don't think end users will get the message in a timely fashion.  Thus the reason for choosing BCC (to send out one email to a whole list of people).

    I do not need myself BCC'd, just the recipients on the list.

    Also, could you please explain the whole scheduling thing? If I need to send an email to 1000 people, what should my module settings be so that the scheduler does not overlap itself and send out duplicates?  1,000 message per hour?

    Ahh, yes, the scheduling is your solution, instead of the BCC which typically goes out to one address.

    Yes, you can set it for 1000 emails per hour (I believe ours is set for 2000 / hour), just be aware of your emaiil server's capacity. A couple of quick notes that might be helpful:

    1. In module configuration, it's best not to enable logging but if you do, just log the email address because logging the entire email body could slow down your process.

    2. Do not enable test mode when you're sending a live email.

    3. You can send the same newsletter to multiple lists and all of them will be included in the schedule (whether you schedule for a date/time or send immediately).

    4. Once the Opt In Email is engaged, any other newsletters you try to send out will be in queue and will be done after the first job is complete. Again, just send the 1st email to multiple lists.

    How is the scheduler (which is sending one message per email) better than a BCC (which is one message being sent to multiple emails in a single list or multiple emails in multiple lists?

    I will turn off logging.

    I am not using test mode.

    Good to know about the queue.

    You still have not answered my question about why BCC does not send any messages in my version of this module.

    I just sent a test out to 750 users and it is still processing after 30 minutes (about half way through the total number of users/subscribers). This is not acceptable to my client.

    Why does BCC not work for a list?

    Is there anyway to speed up the sending of the messages? I thought BCC would have been the way to go but that functionality does not even work!
