    Working with Ver:4.0.0.13570 / 6.2.5
Default language for the portal is French (CA) with English (CA) secondary.
Trying to change the link text for the terms Remember Login, Register and Password Reminder to their French equivalents. I edited the Dynamic Login RESX settings for French for these settings, and saved them.

They do not show however. I've reset cache, App Pools, restarted App, Cleared browser cache, and still showing up in English. I've also reset the default french template, still the same.

When I return to the RESX edit areas, they show up in French.

    What am I missing? Thanks!!

    Hi Matthew,

Can you tell me if the localization changes for other areas of the module such as the module settings and so forth if you modify those RESX files? Also, does the template properly change at least when you use localization?

I just checked and those should be using RESX localization files from our test site at http://dynregdemo.datasprings.com/D...fault.aspx

There could be a version difference between that version of DNN and yours however I don't know of any other changes that would have been made which would have had an impact on the localization portion of this. How are you modifying the files? Is this under Admin, Languages or on the server?

    Thanks,

    Chad

    1) I'm modifying the files via Admin. Have tried both host and site modifications, same result (no changes).
    2) Tested several other localization strings DL (French language--- Admin/Language/host settings)

    /DesktopModules/Dynamic Login/App_LocalResources/DynamicRoleEdit.ascx.fr-CA.Host.resx
    litDESC.Text
Old value: "Security Role Rules allow you to redirect the user ......

New Value: "This is the text that I inserted to test the changes being made. Security Role Rules allow you to redirect the user .....

Save resource file, return, clear cache, checked DL values

Results: No change to DL UI

It would appear that DL reads the RESX files once, and that's it.

I'm concerned b/c of deadline, and also have similar changes to DR as well. TIA, Matt

Hi. A couple of quick things here...

    1. Did you already get the localization to work for the Register, Password and other text? I ask because you mentioned that before and I was not sure if you were able to get that working.

    2. Our module uses the same typical methods for localization... The only general changes I would know would be if maybe there were two specific settings in these files and maybe it was spelled slightly different. Like litDESC and litDesc would be different because of the capitalization etc...

    3. I have seen a few instances with the login/password/register text where the localization was coming from a DotNetNuke global resource file, so you might also check there. I saw this before when it was coming from globalresources.ascx.resx I belive. I would have to research this more.

If you still have a problem (especially with the back-end administration which really should be using standard methods) then please open a support ticket. Maybe when you are switching to the other languages and then clicking into the control panel, the module is loading the control panel without the language variable within the querystring so that our module does not know what language has been selected? That could be a possibility. What is the exact URL before you click into the control panel and do you see the language within the URL?

    Thanks,

    Chad

Below are my answers to your questions:
    • Did you already get the localization to work for the Register, Password and other text? I ask because you mentioned that before and I was not sure if you were able to get that working.
    • Yes -- I changed the prompt "Email Address" on the standard login module to "French Email Address". When I switched the interface language to French, the 'translation' showed up immediately.
    • Our module uses the same typical methods for localization... The only general changes I would know would be if maybe there were two specific settings in these files and maybe it was spelled slightly different. Like litDESC and litDesc would be different because of the capitalization etc...
    • I followed the exact same procedure to get the above translation working, and changed the prompt "Administrator Note: The login template is only displayed for unauthenticated users to sign in." to "(FR-ca) Administrator Note: The login template is only displayed for unauthenticated users to sign in."  <-- the translation did not display.
    • .I have seen a few instances with the login/password/register text where the localization was coming from a DotNetNuke global resource file, so you might also check there. I saw this before when it was coming from globalresources.ascx.resx I belive. I would have to research this more.
    • I understand, however even the above mentioned change, which is DL specific, does not show up.
    • here is the URL that I see at the top when I initially switch into the languages module: http://desjardins.learning-manageme...uages.aspx
    • This is the URL when I choose to edit global resources: http://desjardins.learning-management.com/Admin/Languages/tabid/68/ctl/Editor/mid/421/locale/fr-CA/mode/System/language/fr-CA/Default.aspx
    • I have an open ticket already, should I open another one?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Hi Matt - Can you please open up a support ticket and provide us with temporary edit rights (maybe admin rights) to the website. If you can do this and reference this specific thread we should be able to have this reviewed and check this against the module source code to see what might be happening.

    Thanks!

I am still in localization hell with both DL and DR. Do you know when you will be able to take a look at this?
