Hi, can anyone help me please?

I would like to know the best / optimal way to use Dynamic Forms and Views to capture and display a "Link to User profile" for every record captured through the form.

I can work out how to add a hidden field on the form to capture any of the core DNN user profile elements (eg Display Name), but I'm not sure what is the best way to render this data within Dynamic views such that it displays as a hyperlink to the profile page of the user who created the record.

Any suggestions / guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    Tony

    Hello Tony,

You can use a Custom SQL Query as the data source for your Dynamic View and build a SQL Query that will pull in all User Profile Information from the UserProfile table.

However, the quickest way to do this may be to install our module Dynamic User Directory onto your site.

This module creates a PIVOT table that includes the Users, UserProfile and ProfilePropertyDefinition tables.

You can download a free trial from here:

So once installing DUD, you can use the following SQL Query:

    Select * from TempDUDPivot

This allows you to access Profile Information quickly.

As for moving from a Dynamic View to a Dynamic Form, I would recommend passing the UserID column value to the Dynamic Form.

Then have Dynamic Forms use Initial SQL Binding based on the UserID passed through the Querystring.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
thanks for the quick response again, however I don't think I was clear in what I was asking.

I'm effectively looking to create similar functionality that is already provided within the DF module where it creates [ViewDetailsLink] which can then be part of a data list through a DV module.

I want to do the same for the user id of the user creating the record - ie create a hidden field in the form where the value is set / calculated to be the html for a link to the user profile page, by substituting the [userid] column into href statement.

I was wondering whether there is a best way to do this within DF, maybe by using a client side event to set the hidden field value?

    Thanks again,

    Tony
