    Hi

I've a couple of combo boxes that, populated from a SQL database, give me the list of the "Countries" and "Departments".

In both cases, now the first option is the first alphabetic name available.

My idea is to specify like first line in both combo boxes "..please select.." and force (mandatory field) users to select a value that's not the initial label.

There is any way to do this with my Dynamic Form 2.3?

There is any way to add on the top of the combobox the "dummy value" ...please select...? I'd like to avoid to add inside the SQL database...

    Thanks in advance

    Kind regards

    Daniele

    Yes....

First, the very first option will not be 'allowed' if you have server side validation turned on and the field is marked required. So, with this in mind you would write the query with a 'Union' or 'Union All'. Here is an example.

Select '< Select Region >' as QuestionOption, '0' as QuestionOptionValue
    Union All
Select Text as QuestionOption, Text as QuestionOptionValue from Lists where ListName = 'Region'

This is a useful and common approach/implementation with both Dynamic Forms 2.3 and the latest 2.5 release.
