I'm using a list box in one of my forms, and if the users doesn't select and item from that box, I want an error message to be displayed.
I have it set as a required field, however, if I open the form and just click submit without entering any data all fields that are set to required show a red asterisk next to them, except for the list box.

Here is the example I'm working on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Art,

Hi. I will look at this, I know for the 'Combo Box' you can set the field to be required and this will now allow the user to select the very first item (usually) the - Select Field - is the first item so thats what it validates against. For listbox though I am not sure this is implemented. You could always specify a 'N / A' field and set it to be the default value?

I'm not sure I understand how to code a regular expression...to validate it.  Is this documented somewhere?

I use SQL to populate my combo boxes. I do a union style query and make the first value '' (empty string) then I select validation to require a non-empty value for the field.
